Siemens, Square D, Eaton Cutler-Hammer all make 10 amp single pole breakers.

mr cavie, you are correct. many 20 amp breakers and the rest are 15 amp. no 10 amp. don't try to read the amperage on the breaker handles in the dark, bent over, with glasses that are trying to fall off.

Just be aware your mileage may differ.
For about 10 years, I ran my 30 amp service camper on a dedicated 20 amp breaker through 12 gauge (20 amp rated) Romex to a 30 amp rated camper outlet. I used the 30 amp cord to the camper.
I was able to use everything (including the air conditioner - with a Micro-Air soft start computer) without worry so long as I did not use the microwave when the AC was on. I never once tripped the breaker.
When running any camper with a sub rated supply, power management is key to keeping things from over heating.
Using an adapter 30 amp down to 20 amp; then plugging into a 15 amp circuit, you will not be able to run the AC. You may get the microwave, but you should watch the delivered voltage carefully as you will be trying to suck the amperage through a 15 amp "straw" reducing the voltage to possibly damaging "brown-out" levels.

You've led a pretty sheltered electricians life if you've never seen a 10 amp breaker. Heck I've only been in the electrical field for about 50 years and I've even seen 6 and 7 amp breakers, and 10 amp breakers are fairly common. I've even seen a few 3 amp breakers.

That specialty application may be homes in a place like Texas, as an example, that are quite old and the power "J" box (panel) is sometimes as low as 60 to 100 amp service where breakers are dedicated to just one circuit ( one wall receptacle) and such instead of multi circuits (multi wall receptacles) and such. It may or may not be a step above "old school" fuse panel installs. These homes are not wired with the gage that would support a higher rated circuit breaker. Granted, this is definitely in the minority but there it is. Just one example of "specialty".

A typical 1000 watt microwave has a standard 15 AMP plug and runs just fine on a 15 amp circuit, same as in a house. The one in my kitchen says on the label Input 120VAC 1500 watt which at 120V is a 12.5 AMP draw at most. This is of course as long as the voltage is not low either from the source itself or because of using a long extension cord causing voltage drop, etc.

Make sure if you have to use an additional extension cord you are using at least a12 gauge cord and as short as you can. The lower the gauge cord the better and safer for handling the current draw. Don't trust your standard cheapo 14 gauge cords. It may easily overheat and melt your connector and could start a fire.

Guess you missed it: "in a place like Texas". West Virginia/New Mexico/Utah/Montana/Alaska are other examples I'm familiar with.

Sorry to bother you. I was just badgering cavie like he's been known to badger me. Now back to your normally scheduled programming where cavie is defending himself against Herk's challenge.
