1999 Forest River Sandpiper Model 33FKSS

Hi,

Last summer I acquired the above that permanently sits in a campground in West VA. While the unit is in very good shape, I am in need of a few replacement parts. Some may be easy (a new door lock assembly for the sliding glass door, the thermostat for the HVAC system, and a similar lock assembly/door handle for the rear bedroom door, a latch to keep the back door open) so I am going to head to a major RV/Forest River place in the Pittsburgh area to see if they can help.

I had contacted two online dealers that thought that they could help, but wanted part numbers. Forest River does not keep manuals that long, so no clue as to the part numbers for anything. Checking online for part manuals hits a dead end, or sites that come with virus warnings.

But, the sliding screen door for the sliding glass door is missing. That may be the tough one.

Does anyone have any ideas? I know I could probably fit one of those magnetic slit screen things, but would really like a door so I don't have to worry about things slithering in....

Really appreciate any ideas Many Thanks!!

Welcome to the forum!

The FR dealer may be able to help. Another place to check is Amazon. The age of the rig is going to mean finding replacement parts will be difficult.

Replacing a lock assembly is fairly easy if you've got measurements and perhaps a manufacturer's name.
As to the screen door, you might find a place that manufactures replacement screen doors.

Sorry. I really don't know of any salvage yards.

I would guess that you won't find any OEM parts for a 25 year old RV. You'll have to look for newer substitutes of what you want to replace.
