Dynaquest GPS headunit

Does anyone know what brand of gps headunit is in 2017 Dynaquest? Mine was freezing and now it is dead . Fuse is good. No brand name is on unit itself .

Likely an Xite.

Brian. It appears that my head unit is gone. Would the newer Kenwood units be plug and play with the 2017 wiring? If so , what is the model number? Don’t want to buy a unit that doesn’t even last two years

I do not think the kenwood harness would be the same. There is likely a harness adaptor, but you would still have to wire that up to plug into the M2 side.

I know others have done it. I think HALLA was the first one to install the Kenwood.

What GPS module do we need to get that will plug into the Kenwood unit? I thought it was included in the Dynaquest but now realize it was not. Been using phone via car play so far, but would rather have RV gps for improved mapping and routing based on rig size. Thx.

The 2020 does include the NAV system from Kenwood. Unfortunately they did not have it out in time to make the 19. We only saw a demo there.

It is not a module either, it is a different model.

Kenwood DDX9704S was the standard (and still is for the DX3 and Force).
Navigation is via CarPlay and Android Auto

Option on those and now standard on the XL is Kenwood DNX775RVS with Garmin as the navigation system

Bummer for me. Perhaps we can barter the cost of all the warranty work costs I'm saving Dynamax paying the dealer or the factory labor (by doing it myself) for one of these head units?

The cost of the model (looking on Amazon) is too high for me to invest. I'll have to stay with the CarPlay interface and see if I can get another NavApp to address the issue of ensuring nav without hitting low bridges or staying off of roads that won't be good for 41' plus a Jeep toad length. I tried Waze but it had some issues.

I turned on the chassis battery disconnect overnight while pulling the Nav Sim card on the Xite. 12 hours later the head came back up. Ran the sim card through diagnostics on the Rand McNally web site. Came back with 3 corrupt files. I'll see if this fixes it.
Better than a replacement at over $900.

Crutchfeild sells some really slick little screw couplers for the wires which makes adapting the kenwood harness to the freightliner about a 5 min job. That's what I ended up doing. Was very simple.

PS I was the first I think. Halla doesn't need ALL the credit

I think that is right, maybe. I think we installed them simultaneously, but you were a time zone behind so I won.

I have a Xite if you need one. Let me know. I’m sure we can work something out. I’m at the rally

Dynamax Isata 3 with Kenwood DNX775RVS

I recently purchased a 2020 Dynamax Isata 3 that is equipped with a Kenwood DNX775RVS audio/navigation system. After I left the dealer the GPS worked for about 15 minutes, then gave a message that it was searching for sattelites. I called the motorhome dealer and they suggested that I make sure the GPS antenna was plugged in. It was, but I unplugged the GPS antenna cable and plugged it back it just to make sure it was fully seated into the antenna jack. Once again the GPS worked for about 15 minutes, then said it was searching for satellites. I called the motorhome dealer, and he sent me a replacement GPS antenna. I installed it and GPS found its location and appeared to work. However, the next time I turned on the navigation feature the GPS gave me the “searching for satellites” message again. I also have a Garmin 61 GPS mounted on the windshield of the motorhome, and the Garmin 61 finds satellites just fine, so I am certain the issue is not obstructions obscuring the GPS antenna. Has anyone else run into this issue? Any suggestions as to how to resolve this problem?

Where is the GPS antenna situated?

I read a post in another forum where the the windshield of some Speinters has coatings or heater wires embedded in the windshield that attenuate satellite signals. With that possibility in mind, I found an application called GPS Test and loaded in on my cellphone. It provides a detailed list of visible GPS satellites and signal strength of each. When I place my cellphone in the area where my motorhome GPS antenna is mounted, the app shows the same overall visible satellites and signal strength as it does when I stand in front of the motorhome with a clear horizon with no obstructions. Is it possible the Kenwood unit is at fault?

certainly possible. That or a pin on the connection might be loose at the radio side. A new antenna did not fix it...River Park is the supplier on that. They might be the best source for troubleshooting that side and they can likely send a radio direct if it comes to that.

Brian,
Steve Salisbury from RiverPark in Elkhart, IN replied to my inquiry. He says they are not the distributor/supplier of Kenwood product line. Is there another supplier you would recommend to contact regarding the Kenwood? Thanks!

Ah crap...I'm so sorry. He's right. So much of our electronics from from River Park, that is my go-to answer. I forgot they don't handle Kenwood. They are Sony, Bose, Samsung and Exite.

The Kenwood comes from a division of Patrick. Let me check on that.
