It's been sitting for about a month and when i plugged into shore power, nothing works. If i hook the battery to bumper cables, everything works fine. I turned the battery disconnect to on and disconnected the jumper cables and the volts drop quickly.... no blown fuses or tripped breakers. I am a newbie and very inexperienced so please be gentle and dumb it down for me lol

Need rv make, model and year.

Type of batteries?

Do you have a voltmeter? Need battery voltage in idle state. 0-12.6 volts for car batteries. AGM and lithium are different.

Solar?

Did you change batteries?

When parked, was the disconnect used?

Do heavy draw 12 volt items work? Not lights. Lifting devices?

The key to problem solving is elimination of stuff!

A good start would be disconnecting the shore power and use a volt meter at your battery terminals and see what reading you get. Once you get that reading then reconnect to shore power and check the voltage at the battery once again to see if your converter is sending voltage to the battery to keep it charged. May be something up with the converter itself.

Sounds like a dead battery. Charge the batteries or leave it hooked to Shore Power for a few days with the Battery in the on position. When your connected to Shore Power everything AC should work. If the batteries are weak or dead the lights and things that run on DC won't work or be slow or dim.

If you are on shore power and nothin works
something wrong with converter side .................. as it should power everything 12v
Jumper cables ... has confirmed battery is connected and is flat...
converter shorepower combo usually does NOT need a battery to power the trailer

USE MULTIMETER if you have one to follow voltage
make sure shore power is ON properly
make sure main breaker is ON cycle it off/on ... does the microwave lights come on?

if NOT.............. test ALL connection points from pedestal to the power center
IF microwave works
test the converter breaker (120v at output wire?)
test 120v is actually getting in to the converter ( wire from breaker to converter is not broken /loose)

test 12v DC................ OUTPUT from converter
if converter is producing 12v .... look at the wiring on the 12v fuse panel
are the converter wires attached properly... (BIG RED/WHITE or BLACK wires on the 12v fuse panel)

PS.... can take over 24 hours to recharge the battery while on shorepower
BUT as it is charging you should be able to use most things 12v
converter is a power supply ... not just a charger.

edit ..additional

Leaver the battery disconnect switch ON for charging
only turn it off if you storing it for long time, follow battery instructions on storing it!
Lead acid requires a maintanence charger if you store it for LONG length of time

I would check to make sure the batteries are not empty. If they are, your batteries are most likely shot.
