Hi from Canada -

It's time to replace our 2 6v AGMs and upgrade to Lithium so we can enjoy the beautiful off-grid places in Canada.

I've searched but can't see if our 2022 - 2608BS Converter is Lithium Compatible. If so, does it switch automatically when it senses Lithium or is there a switch I need to toggle to move it to the higher voltage of Lithium?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give. Our dealer went out of business so we're swinging in the wind a little here.

Being that its a 22 model odds are it is Lithium compatible. Without the convertor make and model number the only clue is knowing what the charging voltage level is.

Thank you. I'll need to do more research on this. I assumed I would just need to drop in new lithium replacement batteries but obviously, there's more to it than this. The converter of course, as well as a shunt to more accurately assess my charge levels and power use.

Two 100 amp lithium will give you nearly double the current battery capacity.

However, I would carefully see if there is a way to cram bigger capacity batteries in whatever box you have. You will thank me later.

I used two 206 ah batteries. Gets us 4 days off the shore power. I am a SOK fan. For a reason. Especially if I lived where you do. Lithium is an issue below 32 degrees .Fahrenheit.

If you have any solar the converter works no matter what.

Find the converter model number. Easy!

Thank you.

We don't really camp in freezing temperatures but this is something to be aware of in case we change our plans. We would love to maximize our lithium battery power if possible.

We have a dual fuel generator which we can use if needed.

Sadly, we didn't think ahead and only ordered the standard roof-mounted 190-watt solar panel we were told by the salesman (erroneously) that 190 watts was plenty. However, we have so many trees where we camp that the roof panel sometimes gets very little sun. We may be better off getting a portable panel to face into the sun.

What is SOK?

How would I find the converter model?

Thanks again!

My 2022 did NOT have lithium capable converter
I think it is hit/miss if you got one because it was the year they started changing over

but as others said not a big deal.. your ordinary one set for AGM will work

you could also get a small battery maintainer

OR if you want to do a lot of off grid in the land of the great northern Father
look at installing 400-600w of solar
(maybe more seeing you almost in the arctic)

your 190w can probably be adapted to 400-600w maybe just by getting 2 more panels and a better solar controller

MY 24 foot roof can have 1500w of panels... your's may/will vary depending on roof obstructions

I bought panels locally through Facebook
controller etc from Amazon.
I day to install using simple DIY tools already on hand.

Thank you. Upgrading our solar is certainly in the plans, even though I'm nervous about doing it myself as I'm not overly handy.

I had a bit of a help in the lifting department

screwing down and sealing was easier.
just used the existing wiring so didn't have to do that much

took about 3 hours to put panels and controller in place
BUT I am very slow due to health.... have to take lots of naps between each bracket.

Converter Auto Detecting Success!

Rockwood responded and according to the tech department, I lucked out. My 2608BS has an autodetecting converter for lithium.
Now, it's off to figure out batteries, shunts, and whether to house the battery(s) inside or on the hitch in the old battery box.
All of life is learning or we die.

Inside if you want to keep them warm and use them in winter

I moved mine inside for convenience and able to add solar controllers etc
outside can add a storage box to replace the space lost in the pass through... If I need it!

get battery with bluetooth so you can monitor individual battery charging and to also see the cells inside each battery
Free apps with bluetooth you can change battery settings too

Shunts are nice but not required if you get bluetooth batteries
One less connection/device to attach

Thank you. I see many with BT and didn't realize they could replace a shunt. We don't camp in winter (we get enough of that in Canada) so that's a factor.

A Bluetooth set up on the battery gives you all the information most folks need and then some.

Usually the Bluetooth is dollars more. The device is ten dollars. At one point a dongle that plugged into the battery bms. Mine is integrated in my bms.

A shunt is more expensive and has to be installed.

Go big batteries.

If you have any solar at all, the converter is less of an issue right away since even if it's not "lithium compatible", the converter will still charge them, just not fully, but the solar and a decent programmable solar charge controller will top them off. Relocating them inside will solve the temperature issue, which is not an issue USING the batteries, but you don't want to charge them below freezing since it will damage them. A shunt and battery monitor is relatively inexpensive, and easy to install, it simply goes between the battery neg lug, and all other neg connections. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C6T34H8...GHV4DYMI&psc=1&ref_=list_c_wl_lv_ov_lig_dp_it
