2022 Shamrock 233s Lippert Control Upgrade?

This is a long shot because I don't know what I'm in for. I have a 2022 with a Lippert Control (?WERV?) panel with the rocker switches. I can control slide / lights / awning via bluetooth through the app, but mine doesn't have the tank % in the app. Does anyone know if the control panel itself is a direct plug and play swap or is there a different monitoring device on the other end?

I was thinking about the SeeLevel system to be able to monitor tanks, but if the above was plug and play maybe better?

The SeeLevel can interact with my Victron GX (which already displays the LP tank % just fine). I love my setup, except for the darn tank monitors.

First pic is what I'd like, 2nd is what I have.

Hi, Rob.

That's the touch panel - the part you see (or, rather, those are the panels, the parts you see). In addition to it there is also a different control module behind the panel (likely in the cabinet behind, hidden behind a wall panel) that you'd also need. This is the brains of the operation - that the tank sensors connect to, which (1) broadcasts to the app via bluetooth, and (2) lights up the appropriate level on the touchpanel. I believe the touch panel you like is part of the X series of OneControl touchpads, and the control module is either an X180T or X260. Important: I DON'T KNOW this for certain, so make sure you do your own research if you're planning on doing some replacing.

OneControl is Lippert's name for a family of integrated systems, they slowly add new features to different levels (including all manner of data input points, like tire pressure monitors and propane weight sensors, fan switches, etc) based on what the control module will handle. Again, this includes all manner of connections for all manner of systems, some of which are not present on your 233. Like the other slides (that you don't have switches for on your panel, but you have room for them), or a leveling system (which you don't have on your 233), etc etc... You can do some google/youtube searches which turn up all manner of these systems.

Note that Lippert either purchases suppliers/companies that they want, OR have products white labeled for them. I believe WERV falls into this category. With my 2022, everything was branded WERV (and that's the main app I use), but OneControl will also work (with a slightly different/more updated interface on the app.. although in the past, the OneControl app was THE SAME as the WERV app, just branded differently).

So, long and the short of it is that the control panel that you currently have doesn't have a sender unit for the tank levels. Before you get excited, the newer panel uses the same sensors and idiot light system that are reported at the touchpanel, so you're getting a percentage, but that's still 100/66/33/0 (corresponding with the four Full, 2/3, 1/3, 0/3 lights). In that instance – and since (1) the tank level point sensor system isn't all that accurate, especially in a book-shapes water tank like our Roos' and (2) they aren't all that well calibrated, I don't put a lot of stock in them. With that limitation, it's not worth the headache, imho, but the heart wants what the heart wants.

Like the SeeLevel - MUCH better system for monitoring tankage (with their tape sensors, instead of Point sensors), but SeeLevel doesn't integrate with the OneControl you have. It DOES integrate with you Victron GX, as does a whole host of other sensors. But the point level sensors in the tank are the SAME, unit to unit. There's no plug-and-play function to get SeeLevel data into the OneController, and report in % fill.

Just my .02 I hope this helps. I could be - and often am - wrong.

I really appreciate your very informative post. I've gone down some of this rabbit hole and you helped connect a few dots that I didn't know about. Thank you.

I like the One Control App as well, but I haven't updated since last year. I'll have to check that out.

I figured that it was a long shot to get the panel. At the end of the day I still wouldn't be able to see it remotely like I can with the SeeLevel / GX combo.

My one complaint with the SeeLevel is (as far as I know) they don't yet sell their headless display. The "Soul" model? As I understand it without that I would need to install the display somewhere hidden because I really don't need another display. I "think" the soul works the same as the display?

Ya….. i “get” what it is you are thinking about trying to upgrade to, but other than the awesome share RhumbleFish offered…. My 2 cents would be…. WHY bother?

Don’t get me wrong, I love the new tech and all BUT…. I also have come in my years to realize that you’ll never ever get ANY of that money back on trade or sell so…. Possible ask yourself could the added cost of this upgrade be better spent? Why not just put it into a campsite reservation in an Uber-Cool spot you wouldn’t normally spend the money on instead

My experience has been that tank level monitors are relatively worthless so NOT having them on an app/device to remind me of such is actually a GOOD thing. 🤪

You're not wrong. Some of us just like to tinker and make stuff better / easier. I really enjoy messing with things like this. Taking things apart and seeing what makes them tick. It's a hobby, it has its pros and cons.

I think the newer units would be more accurate, but at the end of the day I'd still only be able to "see" it in the app via Bluetooth.

With my Victron system I see that I could also use Mopeka tank sensors on the bottom of each tank. That might be an easier install and equally as accurate as the SeeLevel.

I TOTALLY get it!! Hats off and happy fiddling & exploring!! I’m only sorry I don’t have experience with what your chasing to offer any tidbits that might help!
