It seems the battery disconnect on my Wildwood may only be preventing the batteries from charging from the tow vehicle. I have a solar panel and controller installed using the pre-wired wires from the factory. The solar panel is wired directly to the batteries.

The interior lights and DC only refrigerator still work as does the igniter on the burners. I double checked the disconnect is in the off position. I did not check the furnace igniter. I will check that in the morning.

Anyone have any experience with 2022 or newer Wildwoods. The manual I have access to does not provide any details.

TIA.

I didn't know Wildwoods had a factory battery disconnect switch.
Please post a picture of it.
I've never seen a battery disconnect switch that blocked the charge from the tow vehicle's umbilical cord

To add to what Bikendan said....
You're only going to get a trickle charge from the connection to the truck.

What makes you think that the batteries aren't being charged?
The fact that you're getting overhead lights means that the battery disconnect is in the correct position for the batteries being charged from your tow vehicle.
Depending on what the problem is, you may need to have the batteries checked to see if they'll hold a charge.

If you want good charging from the tow vehicle alternator/battery you should look at adding better equipment

a) if you got lead/acid house battery
look at adding a DUAL battery , charging relay ..... some relays are automatic and ONLY send power to the house battery if the motor is running. you will also have to add good sized wire from truck to trailer battery

b) Lithium hose battery
same as above for wiring etc
BUT instead of a simple relay you better off using a dc-dc charger .... lithium can overheat a standard truck alternator.............................. if you are not careful

you could look at UPGRADE the alternator instead of adding dc-dc

Solar panel... what size you got.
400 -600 w of panels will go a long way in keeping your batteries charged
if you only got a 100-200w panel , all that will really do is keep up with storage power
if you want to camp... get some more panels

BUT your roof will be pretty small ? you may have to get creative in using some sort of mounting system/rails to your roof
OR just use some ground panels when you get to the campground

the standard truck 7 pin will provide enough power for you to get between campsites and setup.

a small 1000w generator can be used too

battery.... when it comes time to replace yours
look at getting lithium IRON lifepo4... they are safe and have a lot of good characteristics for a trailer
they work faster and better with solar
store a LOT more usable power
prices have dropped considerably ...

200ah of lithium will cost you around $400 but they will power your trailer for a weekend as long as yu don't use power hungry INVERTER

I camp using my 12v fridge and even use the furnace .... 95% exclusively off solar and battery

You are correct. It was late, dark and I was tired. The disconnect was NOT in the OFF position. With it in the OFF position none of the lights, etc. are working.
