We have a couple of questions regarding our 2025 Isata 3.

Backup Camera Issues:

  1. Our backup camera view is currently pointed straight down, which makes it difficult to back into a space. Is there a mode to change the default backup view to a camera that points to the back instead of the rear camera that points down?
  2. Additionally, the backup camera does not show the backup grid lines. Although the grid lines option appears in the menu, they do not show up while the camera is in backup mode. How can we enable the grid lines?
Flex Generator Concerns: We have the new flex generator instead of the Onan. During our first weekend with the camper, which was in 25-degree weather in Chicagoland, we couldn't get the generator to start. The dealer brought it inside on Monday, and once it was warm, it started right up. We tried to use the generator again this weekend where it was 30 degrees, and it had the same issue - it wouldn't start. We're about to leave on a cross-country trip and will be staying in Northern Arizona, where it can be a bit chilly, so this is quite concerning. Any guidance on this?

House Batteries Charging: Our dealer mentioned that the house batteries do not charge while the Sprinter engine is on, and they only charge via solar, generator, or hookup. Is this true? Our previous Forest River 2400 MBS charged while driving.

Thanks for your input,

Rob and Kate

Sounds like some questions for Brian.
I’m sure he’ll be along soon.
It probably doesn’t matter, but what model of Isata 3 do you have?

Do you have a dual rearview camera? Our I5 has a dual cameras - horizon and hitch views. Hitch looks straight down. Horizon is for rearview monitoring. Have you tried switching camera views on your monitor?

Yes, it is a dual view. The default view which I referred to straight down is what you called, hitch view.

I want the camera to be the ‘other’ rear view and also enable grid lines.

1. The back up camera is a "Quad View" meaning, it should have Right/Left/Horizon/Hitch all on at the same time. In the software, it can be set up so that the "reverse trigger" can activate any camera. It appears that the reverse trigger is set to trigger the hitch view instead of the horizon view.
2. As for gird lines, I'm not sure they are worth anything, as they are not "predictive" like auto where it turns as you turn...its just a grid.

Flex Gen: The gen is an LP gen, just like the Onan, so if it is not starting, it has likely more to do with the LP tank than the gen itself. If cold, the LP regulator can stick a bit, especially if the tank was not purged totally of air.

House Batteries: Dealer is incorrect. The Sprinter alternator will charge the house batteries through the Li-Bim.

Online owners manual has info on the Li-Bim (how it works) and there may be some info on the gen that is helpful. Owner's Kit

One thing I would try....press the battery boost button and hold it. This pairs the hourse and chassis batteries. Lithium batteries are very nice, but the weakness is it is not a starting battery with high cold cranking amps. The chassis starter battery would be. While I have never seen this be an issue, it is worth give it a shot to see if the CCA's of the house batteries would give it a boost in cold weather.

I'm circling back on this post to be transparent and offer some feedback on the camera setup of the Dynamax Isata 3. My experience with the camera has been disappointing compared to the camera in my 2021 FR Sunseeker MBS, which seemed more capable. I plan to replace the camera when I have the time and I can find a compatible model.

Here are a few specific points I'd like to address:

  1. Default Backup View: There is currently no way through the software to change the default backup view from the hitch view to the horizon view.
  2. Lack of guides on the backup camera serve an important purpose, acting as guides, I am wondering if this is tied to the default reverse view of the hitch since you do not need the guides for the overhead hitch view.
  3. Turn Signal Triggers: The unit is capable of being triggered to view the left or right camera via turn signal triggers. I'm unsure why this feature is not enabled, but it would be very beneficial for enhanced visibility and safety.
  4. Glare Issue: The camera often suffers from glare, making it hard to see at times. This is a significant issue that impacts the overall usability of the camera.
Thank you for considering this feedback, and I hope it can help improve the user experience for others.

While I got used to having no turn signal triggers, over time I found it wasn't too much of an issue in a rig of this size. I also know turn signal triggers can be problematic. My last coach had issues with the left-turn signal dropping out after a couple hours on the road. They even replaced the entire system and it still happened.

The only issue I had with the Camera System was the Glare Issue. The funny thing is the glare is an issue when the sun is coming through the windshield vs sun shining into the display or into the cameras directly. It truly made the cameras system unusable at times.

A while back I suggested to Brian they evaluate the Voyager Camera Systems. I had them in the past and never had a glare issue with them.

1. Then we can have the cabling changed. No reason to have hitch view in reverse.
2. That should resolve with 1
3. More and more OEM's are going to CANbus signals, vs analog, so to get a turn signal trigger requires a module, which adds complexity. I also did not like that I could not see the side camera until I turned the turn signal on. I much preferred being able to see that side all the time (as the 3 series is set up). You should have all (4) views, both sides, hitch and horizon at all times.
4. Glare, I know some people figured out there was a plastic protective film on there still. It is hard to see, but that seemed to help. I have not noticed a glare when I have driven them, but will ask our test driver.

I removed the shipping film and it helped.... slightly. I also tried an anti-glare protector at the manufacturers recommendation. Again, it helped slightly.

Lots of sun down here in Florida. If it is a clear day and you drive into sun...... let's say the sun is somewhere between your 10 o'clock to 2 o'clock position..... the display is truly unreadable.

So ask your test driver to test it in those conditions.... but you should probably wait until April - May when the sun is higher in the sky and brighter.

I have a Garmin GPS in my boat and I can read it easily in the brightest of conditions. It is definitely a display issue.

It also happened to be in late August when I driving west on I-80 to your plant for warranty service. As I was driving west the display was unreadable after 2:00PM until the sun was setting.
