Hello snd than you in advance for any answers you have to share.
We are new to Forest River/Sunseeker, having recently moved from a 2013 Coachman Freelander CB23.
The Freelander had a little blip of a hose that hung down under that was the fresh water tank overflow, but I don't see that on my Sunseeker, which does look all enclosed under there. There is a little horseshoe shaped plastic piece on the side near the fresh water fill connection that says Tank Vent and water does come out of that if we go beyond 2/3 full.
My question - is this the overflow & vent?
Water runs down the side of the coach and into a compartment below if the flip down door happens to be open.
We've adjusted our fresh water tank MO to lessen these happenings and I have called our dealer for answers to no avail🤪
Again, I appreciate any knowledge/answers and have greatly enjoyed reading the vast amount of guidance, knowledge, help and suggestions that others are so willing and kindly sharing here

I’m having troubles finding detailed videos of the 2025 Sunseeker 2440DS. Have you done a very detailed inspection of the underside of your rig, to be certain there is no freshwater overflow? Is there a freshwater drain hose?
I guess only another 2025 model year owner will know if that’s a design change for 2025 versus 2024.

My Sunseeker 2430S has it’s overflow come out the same fill spout.
My freshwater drain line exit is located directly beneath my fresh water tank.

While some rigs that have gravity fill freshwater tanks come through with no overflow hose and rely on the air vent and backflow up the gravity fill pipe, that's not a good design. My pop-up had that, but my newer rig has an overflow hose.

So the big question is, did the manufacturer install an overflow hose and simply forget to cut a hole in the coroplast to allow it to drain on the ground? Or is there NO overflow hose? Those are important questions, because you don't want to be draining overflow into the coroplast under the rig.

After filling the fresh tank, do you ever see drips coming out of the underbelly here and there? If so, there may be an overflow hose dumping water into that enclosed space.

While kenandterry mention a rig model number, I don't see that in your OP.

I suggest you pester Forest River until you get a clear answer on this. If there's an overflow hose dumping into your enclosed underbelly, this needs to be corrected as a manufacturing defect.

Hi Jim,
Thank you for the response. Just to clarify, the water never comes back out the fill connection, it only comes out of the black horseshoe shaped piece just under the fill connection labeled "Tank Vent".

Water has, so far, never been spotted leaking under the coach anywhere, not a drip.
Just to be sure though, i got under there And loojed for any signs, and under the bed where the fresh water tank resides.... nothing.

I have called Forest River again, but so far, no one seems to know the answer to the question, which remains, does that Tank Vent act as both the fresh water tank vent AND overflow??

That's good news...no leaks/drips. Some rigs do come through without an overflow, and there's nothing wrong with that. The only downside to the air vent acting as an overflow is IF AND ONLY IF there is a belly in the air vent line (sloppy assembly), that can fill with water and act like a drain "trap". Then air won't come out, and your tank will be balky to fill. You don't report that problem, you're probably fine.

We just bought a new 2024 Sunseeker 2500ts. On the drive home I followed my spouse and saw at first some trickles of water and on a couple of exits some gushes of water coming from the rear left below where the fresh water tank fill and the horseshoe piece I think you are talking about. When we got home, I got underneath the back of the rig and noted a black hose descending in a space along the back wall that was still wet and I'm assuming the source of the water. Since our tank is under the bed in the back and in the same vicinity, I am assuming it is our overflow. I did not detect any water in the under bed area or dripping anywhere else from the undercarriage. The hose was tucked in between a smallish space coming straight down from above so you may want to check if you have something similar that can only be seen from below. And if you do, maybe it's malfunctioning in some way?

I cannot thank you enough, sydsam 1995, for you wonderful, detailed and complete response. I will look tomorrow, for sure and hope I find exactly what you describe.
I am so encouraged by your response, thank you again, for taking the you did to offer some guidance, it is much appreciated🔆

the item you are describing is a vent but can also act as overflow if the tank is full. are you saying water is coming out when the tank isn't full?

Good morning, KaryKatz,
The water sloshes out of the vent only when we get above 2/3 full of fresh water

I guess my confusion is going from a unit that did not have a vent on the exterior wall, but had an overflow tube under the coach that fresh water came out of when the tank was full but the was still hooked up and water was running.
Our new coach doesn't seem to have an under the coach outlet for the fresh water overflow.... or does it? Based on information from syddam 1995, i am going to look closely today

We have a 2025 Forester 2861 just off the assembly line a little over a month ago. The only freshwater tank overflow I have located is the horseshoe shaped air vent that is mounted slightly below the freshwater tank fill connector on the street side outside wall of the motorhome. It appears to function just fine. I did notice when I brought it home from the dealership it burped a little water as I backed it up the slight hill into our drive but otherwise, I have not seen any unusual behavior.

Hi S. Todd,
That's good news, i don't believe our is acting unusual, I just wanted to know if that was a vent as well as the overflow, and that seems to be the case. I did crawl under there today in search of an overflow tube, I even measured where the tank sits so I would have a better chance of finding it if there was one, and looked along the entire back wall, but there wasn't one that was visible. I take that to mean, there isn't one. I so appreciate your post, like all of them, it has helped me understand and know our new coach, and the more we know, the better owners we are. Thanks again, to all who have posted suggestions ands ideas.

Sincerely,
Barbara
