I had the TT 10 days then the propane heater catastrophically failed. Waiting on parts for a new TT at the dealership I purchased it at took one month. I got the trailer back. Ran the heat for one week and the heater has failed again. I have not found any mention of others even having the same trailer as I, so I’m wondering what direction I should go. I am still under warranty. Will a mobile rv mechanic work warranty problems? Should forest river find a replacement model? Wisdom would be appreciated. I am an older first time RV owner. Thanks.

Congrats on your new trailer. Sorry you're having problems.

I'm not familiar with your model but RV appliances, like the furnace, are almost always consistent, if not in size, in manufacture, throughout the brand line. So, a replacement model, is not likely to happen. While under warranty, you have to give them a chance to fix it.

There aren't that many parts to a furnace. I'm not sure what is wrong but there are only so many choices.

Yes, mobile techs can do warranty work but you have to have that approved in advance.

Best of luck.

Forest River, but some mobile techs know how to handle warranty work and will get the authorization for you. Just depends on how good your mobile tech is.

If you are in an RV park, go to the office and ask for recommendations on mobile techs, they typically have a good idea of who's good or not.

In addition to what DJ said, if you get a mobile mechanic, you may be required to pay up front, then get re-imbursed from FR/dealer.
Best thing to do is call the dealer and get their butts in gear. After all, they have your money.

What is the nature of these "catastrophic" failures? What model furnace are we talking about?
The fan wheel (squirrel cage) self destructed and kept trying to spin. It was so loud that I thought it was going to explode with parts flying everywhere. The second time, a squirrel had climbed in, got stuck in the fins as it spun and probably died from centrifugal force and high heat/exhaust temps. Caused a very noticeable wobble which I was expecting to cause another fan self destruct. A mobile mechanic told me what to look for and how to get it and sure enough, a mouse. Heater has been running top notch since.
