Added latches to keep drawers closed while traveling

yes...if the guides are not perfectly (or close to) parallel, it does not engage. I used the same drawer guides at home (one some drawers I installed in my closet to test these before we started using them), and I think I had to shim a couple of the rails to get them parallel. otherwise they wouldn't work

I changed almost all of mine to strong magnetic, but the ones with stuff that can fly out when shaking get a Velcro strap through the handle when traveling.

We had the same problem. I replaced all the drawer slides with heavy duty slides for RV’s from Woodworker’s Hardware. They stay closed while underway. Problem solved!

I’ve had the two upper large clothes drawers in my 2022 37TS open on occasion. The last time the weight of the drawer broke the slide mechanism. So I installed these latches to the drawers to keep them closed.
Used the same latches on our lower pantry drawer for our 2022 Berkshire XL 37A. The big pantry cabinet locks into place while traveling but the lower one was held in place by a latch. It wasn’t holding and sliding open while traveling. Added two latches, one on each side and that took care of the problem.

I just spent an hour and a half with the Pantry slide and found 2 things. I still can't get to the kitchen drawer at this time.

#1. The Pantry one that never worked right was out of square when installed, the back brackets were about a quarter inch further left than the other 2 drawers, see the blue tape marking the starting point.

#2. This is a wear point design issue as this style slide wears, they will stop working. This one probably prematurely wore down with the additional angle of the rails. The bump that the screwdriver points to resets and locks the spring pin in the full open "catch" position. When it wears down, it will not push it far enough to lock it anymore. This one is worn on the left slide so that one no longer locks open. The right one is fine. If you manually lock both pins, and slide the drawer in, it will work properly one time.

If the little plastic roller coaster was replaceable, it would fix it, but I doubt it is available.

I am fully confident in this, prove me wrong. 😀

My 2012 Lexington came with these latches installed from the factory. They work great

Do these work the same way that child proof cabinet and drawer locks work? You have to press a tab down to unlatch and open the drawer?

Are there installation instructs? I bought these and pressed them together and could not press to unlock. I had to force the 2 pieces apart. Just wondering how it works on the door?

Same way. Just easier when they are mounted.

Some are harder than others. The replacements I bought had a weight specification. Example is 8 pound or 12 pound. That related to how much effort it took to open the door/drawer.

Drawer Travel Latches

What I did several years ago. Parts from Ace Hardware - pot knobs, as I remember. Turn to hold drawers while traveling; turn 90 degrees while parked. Never had a drawer come open while traveling since installing.

I just drop a yardstick down through the drawer handles. (The same thing done to keep a baby from opening drawers.) They all come out or none come out. The latter has been our experience.

This thread reminded me to go upsize some screws to tighten a few latches. Thanks.

DM parts sent some replacement sliders, thank you. I installed them this weekend. Everything is good now, self closing and holding firm. They are the same with the plastic roller coaster that rides on the steel pin, the next time I will test some alternatives. I am trying to avoid mechanical latches for now if possible.
