Blown tire

Was driving from Cedar Point, OH on HWY 2. Pulling 2025 Cherokee 29NMBL, when I noticed smoke coming from passenger side tire. Came out and saw blown tire. Tire only had about 400 miles. Also, it had Cherokee TPMS cap that they put on now. That thing was still green like nothing happened. So, I will be upgrading tires and actual TPMS system that works!

Ouch! Is everyone ok? No damage to undercarriage? What kind of tires do they put on the new Cherokee?
TPMS don't work for all conditions. Had a friend who lost the tread on a tire, but the TPMS didn't go off because the tire hadn't lost pressure.

If you're upgrading all tires, that would be a wise investment.

Green usually denotes Nitrogen was used to service. My camper came with the green caps and my TPMS sensors are internal wrapped around the rim with a large hose type clamp.

Does look like a metal valve stem, maybe the sensor. Not saying your cap is not a sensor though.

Convenient how the damage took care of the brand name.

Everyone is ok and no damage to the undercarriage, thank god!
The tire name is TAMARACK. I’ve tried googling it no
avail! Tire load E, speed rate M - 81mph. (I was going 60)

The TPMS cap is suppose to turn yellow if pressure is low. That’s what was explained to me during walk through!

Interesting TPMS but if only an indicator on the cap it does no good while driving.

May want to think about a system that has a display for pressure and temperature you can monitor while driving.

Rockwood was putting TST truck systems on their campers in 2022 when I got mine. Seems like a pretty good setup but is all I ever had.

I turn my display on for a few minutes the night before just to make sure tires are still holding. Check again in the AM.

Those tire pressure indicator caps are notorious for leaking in my business (which is tires). Who knows, that could have been the whole problem and the cap let out the air, and you unknowingly ran it underinflated till it blew out.

I would suggest removing the other three indicator caps and put regular caps on them.

I was just involved in another recent thread about these. Let me find it.

The first three digits of the tire DOT Code will reveal the manufacturer of the tire. Here's a list for you reference:

Only Arroyo Tamarock tires I could find were light truck (LT), not ST, tires. Is the case here? Are they OEM to the trailer? LT tires are not recommended for ST service.

The only benefit in Nitrogen in tires is profit for whoever is selling this scam.

I had Tamarack on my 2024 Arctic Wolf 2,000-3000 miles on them with no issues.

I couldn't find any information on them either.

I replaced them for peace of mind with carl star (new name for Carlisle).

Edit: Mine were ST tires

Yes, they are OEM ST tires

Just wanted to tag onto this important thread about tires. When I read where someone mentioned NITROGEN in tires. Is this scam still going around? As a scientist, working in the Atmospheric field, it is important that everyone knows the very air you breath is made up of several gasses. Nitrogen averages 72% of the atmosphere It is impossible for anyone to replace all of the air in a tire with 100% pure nitrogen since there will always be regular air in the deflated tire. So the nitrogen they sell you is diluted to about the 70% level in normal atmosphere. Unless the tires are deflated in a vacuum then only Nitrogen were added in that vacuum. Please , save your money and never pay for nitrogen to be added to your tires

Is this brand under the Lionshead corporation? Castle Rock Ridgeway and Westlake are. I had blow outs on all three. Lionshead is a terrible company and should be shut down, their tires are dangerous because of inferior materials and quality control. I wish Forest River would pull them off their line.
All three blowouts tires were properly inflated, speed under 65mph . One had 1200 miles, the second had 1000 and the last 220. This last one happened on I -10 in Florida and caused damage and shooked the rig violently. I opted to change all 4 to a 14 ply tire that the roadside assistance had 4 of Advanta. I googled reviews on them quickly and they are reviewed as alright, not the best and certainly not what I would have picked if given a choice. We continued our trip and put 600 miles on them and I can feel the difference in the ride. 14 ply a better tire on our CC Experience 3325bh.

Costco uses nitrogen to fill tires. Yes the atmosphere is 72% N2, but the N2 going into tires is very dry to help eliminate moisture inside the tire. If you have a compressor at home, ever dump the air from the bottom valve? There's a lot of moisture in compressed air and dry nitrogen will be better than compressed air.

That said, I wouldn't pay extra for nitrogen fills. I get them free at Costco.

My point, and independent testing has proven adding dry compressed nitrogen to a tire even when it’s not inflated there’s already atmospheric air in that tire and when nitrogen is applied, it is diluted down with the ambient moisture that still in the tire, so it is not worth the time nor effort.
