Just measured. My current generator will fit the rear platform on my 16BHS IF the wheels are removed. Otherwise the wheels would have to straddle the platform sides and rest on its axle. Darn thing weighs 108# to start with! No wonder I struggle to move it by myself!
IF I were to mount the generator on the rear rack for a trip, it will stay there for the whole trip. With the wheels, front legs and handle removed.
Rack depth 19.5"
Generator frame width 17.5"
Generator wheel width including protruding axle stubs 24.5"
Rack width 59.5"
Generator length 23.25"

That 3500 is a back breaker!!! I feel your pain, ours didn't have the wheels or handle and was brutal to move from the truck to at least 50+ feet from the trailer, so we could hear ourselves think!!! Four years ago we got rid of the Champion 3500 and replaced it with a Champion 3100w inverter gen, non electric start version... Couldn't be happier with the 3100... Much quieter and lighter than the old 3500, and so far just as reliable.

We have the 3100 as well. Love it.

I have a 3100 dual fuel. Since new I've only used it with propane, never seen a drop of gas in the tank. I put it just inside the trailer when we tow, so there is no gas smell. It's protected and safe.

I'm new to RVing & bought an older (2005) Rockwood Ultra Lite 5th wheel. We recently bought the Predator 3400 with plans to boondock a bit on our next trip out west, but when we got it, realized that it would not fit in the back of our truck as the 5th wheel hitch is too low & we have a tool box fitted in the front of the truck bed. We looked into a platform & hitch for the back of the trailer, but when we called FR to make sure it would be Ok, they said "NO - don't put anything back there - it can mess up the slide". Any experience with this?? I thought I had seen generators (& a lot of other things) mounted to rear bumpers, but maybe they weren't as heavy as the generator? Or maybe our ultra light isn't heavy duty enough? I'd appreciate any input!
