So my wife and I were shopping for a new camping trailer and found a new 2022 Wolf Pup 17jg at a dealer here in MN for an unbeatable price. We looked one over with a salesman but wanted to see one other trailer at a different dealer before we made a decision. After looking over the 2nd trailer we decided on the 17jg. We called the salesman and told him we'd like to make the purchase. He told us that one sold but could have one shipped from Omaha for an additional $750. We gave him the go ahead did the financing online and are now waiting for the trailer to get here.

The salesman didn't really explain anything about the purchase process (I'm pretty sure he's really new, like I'm probably his first sale) so I emailed him some questions. I asked if, as part of the purchase, they would set up my weight distribution hitch before I took the trailer. He said they don't do that. Which is fine, I know how to do it. I then asked him to give me a price for them to install a slide awning before I picked it up. (the trailer is prepped for a slide awning). He said they don't do that either. Now this seems extremely strange to me since they have a full service shop at this place. The price we're getting it for is below book value on the same year and model used, so I don't want to buy it from someone else. In fact another dealer told me it was priced below their cost (which I don't believe).

So my question is, does anyone know the size of slide awning I need? Model number would be great.

Welcome from Wisconsin. I'd call their service dept directly and ask them about installing slide topper. Never heard of a dealer that didn't want to make $ selling and installing add ons. Once the camper is at the dealer do a complete and thorough inspection and have them fix anything you find before you sign anything else or hand over any more $. After you sign off you'll be at the mercy of the service dept to have stuff fixed 'under warranty'. There is a PDI checklist under the Library tab above you might find useful.

How experienced in this are you?

You sound nice. RV salesmen love nice people. They get the worst treatment. Pay the most.

There are so many options today on these rv's it becomes hard to compare them at all. Most rvs cannot make it thru the night without being plugged in.

Most of us only care a little about service departments. Usually they are slow at best. And generally bad. Anything under $500 in repairs I would do my self.

The toppers are not a big deal to install. A good plan if you move often. That response was odd. You can have it installed any time. Typical turn around is months for that type of work.

Be cautious. I smell rodent.

I can easily do it myself, even if the trailer wasn't prepped from the factory, which is what I'll probably do. That's why I asked here if anyone knew the size of the awning or model # so I can order one and do it myself. I just figured since they already had the trailer and have to spend time prepping it they might want to make a little more money on this install. Then I wouldn't have to do it. :)

Do the blue!

No it's not a black label but it is decked out with everything else:
PATRIOT EDITION
ADVANTAGE PKG
ADVENTURE PACKAGE W/SPARE TIRE
CAMPING PKG
JUICE PACK
NEBRASKA STATE SEAL
SAFETY PKG
WOLF PUP LIMITED PKG
This is the one: https://www.acnrv.com/product/new-2022-forest-river-rv-cherokee-wolf-pup-17jg-1846796-29

I got it for $1,000 less than their listed price. For some reason their price went up after they listed it as "sale pending".

Judging by the rigs for sale on rv trader, that looks like a fair price https://www.rvtrader.com/Forest-Riv...l=CHEROKEE WOLF PUP|764944421&trim=17JG|61522

They are probably trying to make room for the 2024's and the $1,000 increase in price might just be including the transportation cost to bring it from another one of their locations.

That looks like a great camping rig for a family.

Let us know what happens.

The price didn't increase for shipping. I paid $750 out of my pocket for that. ALL of their pending Wolf Pups went up in price. The ones listed as pending went up $1000. The non pending Wolf Pups went up $3000.

I see a 12 volt compressor fridge. Even with the juice pack (50 watt) and the additional 100 watt, plan on carrying a small generator if away from shore power.
