We purchased the new Coachmen Euro on last Friday. We have not had it out of the driveway yet. Still unloading the old rv and transferring to the new EURO!
I am quite upset now, I was sitting and reading one of the manuals as my husband pulled up a you-tube video. It stated that no one repairs motorhomes and especially ones that run on gas. We just put our life savings into this motorhome! I am sick to my stomach. So what happens now if we need service and where do we turn. I don't even have a owners manual yet!
Is this information true or was someone just compaining? We live in Ohio and if we travel what happens if we break down? Please make my day and say its not as bad as they suggested!! Thank you!!!!
Welcome to Recreational Vehicle Life
All motorhomes are in two parts, the vehicle part is called the Chassis (The Vehicle Part) and the other part is the Coachmen (the HOUSE Part)
The Chassis (which is the vehicle part) can be repaired at almost any Truck Service Center, so the question is what type of Vehicle Chassis do you have?
Looking at the information, (I see online) the engine is a FORD, "YES?" as the engine is a Ford F53 7.3L V8 Chassis, correct? So having a FORD Truck engine, it can be repaired or serviced and recalls handled by almost any certified FORD Truck dealership while under warranty. Find an authorized FORD Truck Service Center, near where you are.
Now the HOUSE is "COACHMEN" Most RV Dealerships that sell Coachmen can do repairs while under warranty.
a short story that we had on a Road Trip far from Home.
When I was once new to Class A, Motorhomes, my wife and I had stopped at a Walmart parking lot for the night as we knew we could. Not knowing at the time, we did not need reservations for any RV Parks, as some required memberships and were new to us. In any case, our slider got stuck in the OUT position on a Saturday.
Here we were miles from any dealerships, or Forest River Dealership as we had a Refection's model by Forest River. I'm okay with most farm equipment.
We were stuck and I had never worked on a Slider, all of my time on the ranch or farm. We found a truck repair center and called and told them we had NO idea how to retract the slide back in and if they could just take a LOOK. They sent us a young man named Randy, tall thin as a rail on a railroad and he did not talk much. He walked around the RV, got under the RV, and lifted the hood. In the Front was the generator and he found four pistons which each were for each of the four slides. He told me I think if I take one off a good one and replace the other it may work. I said okay let's do it. And using the button from the other the slider rolled back into place fully. Problem fixed. We gave the man a BIG Tip and Thanks and he even put them back the way they had been, and the slider worked as it did. Don't recall what all the young man told me, and was just happy it worked, something to do with magnets and rotor. Hey, we were happy.
Today we have a
Coachmen Class B Galleria and I have had 7 recalls by
Mercedes-Benz, and all were handled by the MB Dealership on the VAN part, and a new recall by Forest River Coachmen for a wire that could cause a problem in the future, so this will have to be down by an authorized Coachmen RV Dealership, for us.
And you have all of us here at Forest River Forums to help you. You do need to go into your
USER CP and complete as much information as you can as this will help others here help you faster as you may leave out an important part when asking a question. It helps us help you faster.
