Just installed the console. I must say I like the design. Made out of steel and appears to be well built.
Wasn't sure about the Scan Gauge opening so here is a close up. They cut the box and bent the steel down at a 45 degree angle. The gauge fits perfectly. They also cut out a square box for the data cable. I used the Scan Gauge supplied velcro for mounting to the console.
I used their wiring kit. I did replace their fuse holder (4 slots) with my own which had spaces for 6 power leads. One space is used for the 12 volt outlet and one for the USB charger. I added power to red LEDS, one for a radar detector and one for my XM radio.
I have an XM Onxy receiver in my Ford Truck so I bought a separate docking kit. We will never use the radio in the truck and motorhome at the same time so this saves us a monthly subscription. I tried several spots for the antenna and finally settled on the front outside of the coach near the hood. I had to add a female 12 volt receptacle for the XM radio power. You can not cut off the end and hard wire because I believe the voltage is 5 volts.
The directions were very good. There were pictures of the 12 volt source and where to ground the wire. Freightliner has a firewall spot for sending wires through to the engine compartment. There are knock outs of different sizes just waiting for accessories to be added.
My only criticism would be of the paint or coating. Does not seem very robust and is starting to wear away and I just installed it. I did read where someone coated their console with truck bed liner. Will probably do the same when it gets too bad.
