Cracked plastic on the inside of the main door

This is happening in my 2019 Wolf Pup M-16FQ. The inside of the main door is a white plastic sheet and it is cracking. My thinking was to use Bondo or similar crack-filling type of sealant to at least arrest and clean up the cracking. Check out the images below for more details. Any suggestions?

I'd say the inside door material needs to be replaced. I doubt anything applied would yield suitable results.

That type of material is available at the big box stores as shower panels. It can be easily cut to size.

Yes, Bob - I have considered (and still considering) doing just that. I would have to disassemble the whole door, which I am not afraid to do, but a bout of laziness was having me also consider what I could slap on it in the meantime. :)

But I think you're right. Might just have to suck it up and go get some plastic at one of the 3 BB stores.

Just stick some ugly duck tape on the cracks, and go camping. :trink39:

Could be a good time to add a window if you want more light too.

I never fight back against a serious bout of laziness because it's probably saving me from an injury I'll get from doing something stupid while attempting the task.

So far, the white duct tape is the winner. I could put it on in a pattern to make it look intentional, or my partner could do one of her murals on the door and incorporate the cracks as part of the scene.

I am thinking some cavern views or something. :)

And if this happens, you'll see the pics right here.

Mending Cracked Plastics

There are a few different plastic repair compounds on the market (jb weld platicweld or similar) that might do what you need but I am not sure I would go that route. They often dry to an off-white color and most are specific to certain types of plastic and may not adhere to your door. Also I dont think it would look much better! Maybe the white duct tape is the answer until you are ready to replace the door panel.

A few ideas...buy a sheet of FRP wallboard and cut out a piece the size of the entire area that will fit (up to the frame that holds the cracked piece).

You'll also have to cut out a hole that fits over the handle/latch. Basically, you're making a veneer that goes over your cracked panel.

I'd just attach it around the perimeter with 3M double sided tape. (You could add a few intermediary pieces in the center, too, I suppose).

If you go the white duct tape route, I'd opt for white Eternabond, instead. (Unless you ever want to remove it)!!

Really plastic?

Do you think it's really plastic? I'm betting on 1/16" white melamine. In 1995 I bought a 30" x 10' roll from Lowe's or HD. Not sure if they still offer it. I used most of the sheet. Still using scraps of it for things.

I've seen melamine used on RV for things like this. The baggage door on our 2002 is a sandwich of two sheets of 1/16" melamine with 1" of styrofoam between, and a vinyl U-channel around the edge.

OK guys, all great ideas, actually. I do have Eternabond, but at that price, I'll save that for the roof. White duct tape is going to do the trick until I get the gumption to tear the door apart and replace that panel.

In second place is the concept of a wallpaper scene. I'll hand that over to my sweetie.

Thank you all.

Has anyone used white flex seal paint on their door? Isn’t the inner skin glued to the styrofoam- which will make it difficult to get the skin off in order to use it as a template for new skin?

This is happening to me this year on my 2017 Wolfpup. I am wondering if it has to do with the excessive force on the friction hinge. Any time I open the door I wonder if the door frame will let go. My cracks go straight across. I tried ending the cracks with a drilled hole and they kept going
