Dumb Slide Question

There are no dumb questions... but... yes, the slide roofs need to be cleaned as any dirt/debris will (in time) damage the slide seals.

We don't have carpet in our tt and keep a long handled swiffer in the camper, and I carry an extendable ladder. I use the swiffer to wipe the top of my slide before bringing back in. For me it's more about keeping moisture out of the camper, although leaves and pine needles can be an issue as well.

I never “pull in” my slides without, first, going on top and sweeping the slide off. It, also, gives me the opportunity to check my roof and just be sure there is no unknown damage or issues I wouldn’t know about from the ground.
