Well I found out the weak link for my 2018 Duramax diesel. So far twice on this trip I have had a check engine light come on causing it to go into limp mode. The first time was coming out of Quartzsite heading to California and it had a injector fault code for #5 cylinder. Found the electrical connector that plugs into the injector is a common problem. Replaced the pigtail ($130) and all was good for 5 days. Then coming into New Braunfels TX the check engine light came back on and I was in limp mode, nobody likes limp mode! This time it was an injector fault code for #4. Found a Chevy dealer and bought 2 pigtails so I would have a spare. Just got done replacing that pigtail and hoping replacing on on each side of the engine will be the end of the problems on this trip. Before all these problems a random truck driver filling up next to me started talking to me and said if you ever have a injector fault don’t let the mechanic replace the injectors it will be the pigtail. So I’m passing on this info from my guardian angel truck driver to anyone with a Duramax, it could have been much worse without the info and me not having my scanner with me!
