I am rather picky about tinkering with my Dmax. Its a great engine/transmission and I am bit leary about doing something to it that the engineers did not.

I have met engineers, but I have also seen the short cuts big business makes to save a buck Or how hard some engineers are pressed to get a product "function-able"

peterbilt kenworth and Mack engineers didn't put exhaust
brakes on there trucks either but there's hundreds of thousands
Of trucks with them on.
Its good to be objective.

My new Dmax has one built in. The new trucks aren't as fun as the old ones. You can't do squat without voiding the warranty.

I did not know that Peterbilt, Kenworth, and Mack put DieselPerformance exhaust brakes on their rigs.

Yep, I work with engineers all day long but they aren't building diesels. So I do know how engineers think and getting a product to market, economically and on time are among their chief goals.

DieselPerformance exhaust brakes may work quite well and I have no problem with someone else using them on their trucks. But I spend most of my drive time in the flatlands and Interstates. The reasons to spend $1,000 on a device I may not need where I drive, and I do not know if it is harmless to my truck, does not appear to make this device a priority (new tires will likely be that purchase!!!).

I am glad to know DieselPerformance has made such a device and that you took the time to post something on it. It will sure be interesting to know just how many Dmax owners have them, how well they are performing, and if any reliability issues have been noticed.
