Info

I called Dometic this morn and if you have not recieved communication from them and you are effected by this recall they will ask for the following.

VIN of your unit
Model # of the Dometic
Serial # of the Dometic

They were very helpfull and my appointment for repair is approved and scheduled.

Mike :)

Had the kit installed in my TT today. It's only about a 30 minute job. I watched the tech while he did the work.

You need to run your model and serial number through their website!
Their site says the recall is for units made up thru 2006.
My unit says manufactured in 2007 on the model number sticker beside
the door but when I ran my model and serial numbers by them, I AM included
in the recall.
My trailer is a Rockwood 2008 model purchased in Feb of 08.
You need to check your numbers!!
The correct website to check is
http://www2.dometicusa.com/recall.php

Also to be notied you must have the card they send out or your dometice customer id number for the service to be completed.

Without the number the service provider does not get paid and will not do the recall service.

Just hope to save some time as I learned the hard way.

THIS IS JUST GREAT, I just check the recall and my fridge is part of the recall. We leave this Saturday for Myrtle Beach for two weeks. I hope I can get repaired this week or I am out of alot of money. We were camping three weeks ago and noticed a funny smell right around the fridge and stove area but then it went away and now that think about it, I turn off the fridge because we where getting ready to pack up and leave. FYI I work with refrigrants, and the refridgerators in RV's are charged R-717 which is Ammonia, it is toxic and irritating to breathe and slightly flammable. Propane is also listed as a refrigrant R-290, if propane is mix with air it becomes a combustible mixture. In most cases if Ammonia and any other chemical is mix there will problems and even more so with Propane. I just hope I can get my problem corrected this week.

We also we part of the Dometic Recall. Had the kit installed at the dealership in about 20 min.

Service Manager said we were done but the Tech was looking for us to start up the Frig. We almost drove away but stopped to check the work. The Tech wasn't done, had not tested his work. Had to redo as he had it hooked up wrong. Got to make sure the Tech? also says its done!

We had our previous trailers recall repaired by Ted at allseasons rv in michigan, we did not even know that there was a recall until we went to trade in our 5th wheel. I sure am glad we did not have a fire, ive heard that these recalls were pretty dangerous. Im sure that you can call Ted if you are in question if your fridge is subject to the recalls.
i believe his number is 231 739 5269.

Thanks powerboatr!

I just called and the former owner didn't get it fix (I baught my travel trailer 3 weeks ago).

The dealer's schedule is full but the appointment is in 2 weeks!

mine is included in the recall even though its a 2008 unit......has anyone experienced a failure on their dometic refrigerator? i've seen all the posts about the fixes, but i've never read about an actual failure or a problem.
i've turned off the gas valve on mine and only run it on 120vts. i'm hooked up on a permanent site.

mine was in the first round. the fix consist of a shield around the burner with a temp sensor in it (to shut it down in case of a leak). they are not correcting the weld problem just detecting it if it leaks and shutting the system down if it produces heat.
