We have been camping for years. Started out in tents, then pup-up, now our hybrid. We do several long weekends each year. Just finished our first year with the Roo and love it. I have a few mods I want to do before we go on our 2.5 week trip this July.

My question is what, if anything, is really different from 3 and 4 night trips to 18 nights and 2100 miles? We have a great system figured out for the weekend warrior thing. I would like to have a similar experience on longer trips.

nothing really. just plan in some time to wash clothes and replenish provisions. and since you are going some distance you'll probably be in new areas. plan some time to see the local attractions.

Nothing really different unless you are doing this WITHOUT hook-ups.

You'll then need to think about replenishing fresh water and disposing of the waste water.

As for travel... we use the tried and tested 50 MPH average distance (includes fuel/food stops and potty breaks) and try to average 300 miles per day (6 hours) if not pressed for time.

We live in Wisconsin and travel every year to spend a month in the Rockies. We put about 15 gallons of water in our fresh tank for toilet and doing the dishes and use a water jug for drinking and cooking. We cook outdoors most of the time. We empty the black tank every 4 or 5 days as the opportunity allows. We carry 15 gallons of drinking cooking water in the back of the truck. There are only two of us and we leave home with a lot of food so that we don't have to stop at stores very often to resupply. Our meals are planned out 5 days in advance so that we know what we need for food.
Don't over think everything. Enjoy the trip.
When we leave home and on the way home, we plan on a 650 mile day. We have seen everything in that space many times and like to spend the first and last night in the Badlands. Traveling that distance is easy if you have snacks and beverages to help get between gas stops. Our 4 daughters grew up doing those long days so they never had a problem with it. We played games and kept them busy looking out the windows at the beautiful scenery. We did not have digital media to entertain them. Three of the girls still do those trips on their own including the put the hammer down first day. We leave early the first day to get to the Badlands mid-afternoon.
This works for us but would drive some people crazy. With the TT is is super easy, try 6 people and camping gear packed into a Chevy Malibu. Everything had to be in the perfect spot to fit.

make reservations , months ahead of time . look st refund policies, every campground is packed on a weekend make sure that is covered. try to change campgrounds mon. or tues , 8 days is about the amount of days we stay at 1 place. seen it ,,done it, time to move. Went to Parker az. Feb. last year. made reservations 4 months ahead of time. People moved up to 3 times a week because they had no reservations. saw people get turned away because camp/ G full and no reservations.

I have reservations for each stop except one. They are not accepting reservations for 2021 yet. We are spending 3 to 4 nights at each location. I was originally planning on only 2 weeks but those days add up fast we we are at 2.5 weeks.

Thanks for the advice.
