Hello all,

I am new to the pop-up camping world and have only owned mine for about 4 months. I have a 2021 flagstaff and the other day I was getting it ready for our camping trip and was using the electric winch to lower it and a gear piece from the motor just snapped completely off. I had to lower it the rest of the way with the manual winch (which was not easily accessible like the videos I watched on youtube!) and I had to use a wrench to hand crank it down. My family and I went camping the next day and we had to hand crank it up with a wrench and alternate turns and holding the gear on the other side in place....took FOREVER! I've called a few RV dealers near by and only one can get me in to look at it but it will be at least a few weeks. We're going camping again labor day weekend and I'm hoping someone on here will be able to give me some advice! Here are some pics attached to try to help see what I'm talking about. Pics are of broken gear and also location of manual winch. Thanks!

Hello

I am sorry to hear of your troubled start to pop up camping.

Take a look at popupportal.com There are many pop up owners and threads covering automatic winches. Share the pictures above, there's a good chance someone can advise you.

Thank you! I will check it out!

My manual override was a hex head bolt. I got a socket to fit it, an extension and used my 1/2" Milwaukee drill on its lower gear. If you don't have something that heavy duty, use what you have but let it cool off and crank by hand if it gets hot

Mine is 3/4", the problem is I can't get to it with a drill...only small wrench. I read somewhere else where you can drill a big hole through the metal covering on top to get to it easier. I might look into that. Thank you!

Hello, I had the same problem and could not find the gear and shaft. I had to order a new motor with those parts attached as they are pressed in. I broke mine while trying to raise the pop up manually and it snapped off.
