Flagstaff Classic owner, new to this group, probably about to die

You are not going to die, you are just going to an environment you are not familiar with. The Black Rock Playa is harsh. No shade, plenty of alkaline dust, lots of wind, and if it rains the fine clay is not drivable. I used to go to Burning Man in the 1990s before it got commercialized.

You need a solar panel and a controller. An inverter would make your life easier.

Bring cash for ice. Place the ice in 2 gallon ziplock bags in your ice chest. It will keep your foods cold and provide clean drinking water as it melts. Have an amazing experience.

See you in the dust! Year 7.
❤️❤️❤️🙏

Thank you all! FireJeff I’ll be at 7:15 & F, performing at HOTD on Thursday. My shade plan is good, and I’ll have plenty of water. Add a dash of Positive Mental Attitude and it’s all going to be just Fiiine.

I have a couple of battery powered fans, and a bucket mister, also battery operated. And now I also have a pump mister, which I can fill with ice water as a real treat.

Worst case, I can charge my phone in the car, but I suspect I won’t be needing it for much besides arrival and departure.

Still, I’ll check harbor freight in Reno on Friday and see if I can get a controller for this solar setup to work, with holes in the frames for stakes.

Thank you all! Let the games begin!

Welcome this is a good place to start

Again welcome, Harbor flight has a solar set up for around $150.00. Works great, it has everything you need, I have one and i have been out for a week with no problems. Also you can get fans that can be charged from the solar. I live in Nevada outside of RENO.LOL near the desert .Fernley ,water is the main thing you will need. You need any help just Massages me .Have a good day

For about $10 you can purchase a 12 volt outlet. Installed in a few minutes anywhere. Then purchase a small plug in inverter. I think we own the Bestok from Amazon. This provides a usb outlet and 110 plug. 300 watts. Less than $50.

Autozone has a cord with alligator clips for the battery and the 12 volt outlet on the end. Cigarette lighter. Cheesy, but would work.

Unplug when not in use.

You will run out of water and battery likely.

Any small generator will be enough to recharge batteries via the converter. Your batteries without solar will not last long. A 100 watt inexpensive solar panel can only provide 25 ah per day. You need more.

Get a 5 gallon plastic vessel to help.

It is common to see people with giant piles of unused water bottle and other containers after their Burning Man experience. Nobody runs out of water. They bring too much. For backpacking most people get by fine with about a gallon a day per person. Two gallons a day is plenty.

You are not going to be making friends at Burning Man running a generator. People camp right next to each other. It is a nocturnal event to a large extent. Someone near you will be trying to sleep at all hours of the day. Go the solar route. Find a controller for your panels.

Last year food and water supplies ran low for some when bad rains and muds delayed departures. Consider a couple rolls of tape to be used on seams of unit to help keep very fine dust out of rv .

Actually your needs for power on the Playa are very minimal. Bringing power is optional. I have been 6-7 times and never worried about having power. It is liberating not to have it. Phone reception will be poor or non-existent.
