We have a 2012 Forester. The A/C is Just blows out the defrost and floor vents. So we must have a vacuum leak. We pulled the red vacuum line on the passenger side under the hood by the battery apart. One end has good vacuum from the engine, the other end when sucked on has no restrictions when blow into must have a check valve as no air can be put in by mouth.

I have a smoke machine and want to interduce smoke into the system. I think I need to find this check valve and bypass it to get smoke into the system to find the leak.

How do I get access to this valve?
Is there another way to get smoke into the system?

The vacuum line runs down behind the heater box to a vacuum ball. From there it runs up inside to the panel on the top of the dash.

I just bought a few feet of vacuum line, a check valve and ran the line, from the fitting near the engine, into the cab thru the antenna grommet, to the original line just above the passengers feet.

Thanks for your reply. where is the check valve and vacuum ball, is it in the cab or under the hood? How do you get to them?
