WHY does my fresh water tank occasionally fill to overflowing when I’m hooked up to city water???

I recently had the check valve in the water pump replaced hoping that would fix the issue but I discovered that it’s occurred again tonight....

Doesn’t do it all the time - just occasionally....

Well, that one single check valve in the pump is the only isolation between city water pressure and the fresh water tank. Might want to think about adding a second check valve external to the pump.

Think I’m just gonna replace the entire pump... tired of dealing with check valve issues, especially after having a new one installed back in June...,

Anyone ever used a Highflow brand pump??? 4.5 gpm at 60psi... Tractor Supply has it for $119.00.... I believe it’s main use is as a sprayer pump...

I’m going through the same thing right now. I’m staring at all the new parts as we speak. On another post I was informed that the water miser if you have one may also be causing the problem and not the pump. I haven’t investigated that yet. My fresh water tank 52 gallons would fill to overflowing in less than 24 hours.

Instead of check valves I’m using a shut of valve and will only turn it on when not connected to city water. Good luck with your issue.

I’m putting in a new water pump!!!

My understanding is that the check valve in the water pump should not allow this to happen...

It’s really frustrating to go outside and see water coming out the overflow tube every day or so...

I’ve already had the check valve replaced to the tune of $172 so a brand new, larger (5.5 gpm vs 3.5 gpm) for $120 is a no brainer to me....

Should receive new one Thursday.... And it’s not another Shurflow!!!

The pump I’m replacing is a Shurflo 4008-101-E65 that produces 3.5 GPM... Had it installed June 2019 and had a new check valve installed June 2020...

I’m replacing it with a SEAFLO 55 Series 5.5 GPM Variable-Flow Automatic-Demand Water Pump.... cost - $120.00

New pump all installed....

Seaflow 51 series - 5.5 GPM.... SUPER QUIET!!!! $109.00

Easy install....

Drained water out of my fresh water tank so I can tell if pump allows water to fill it....

Fingers crossed!!!!!

Oh - I didn’t drain ALL of the water out of my fresh water tank.... Just enough to show a gap at the top of the tank...

That way I can tell if the check valve is doing it’s job....

Do you have a water pressure regulator on the hose coming from the city water? Reduce the pressure from the city water.

If your city water pressure is high (large campground), the city water pressure can over come the Fresh Water tank pump check valve. Reduce the city water pressure with a pressure regulator on the hose. It sounds by some of your statements that you my have your Fresh water tank pump 'on', when hooked up to 'city water', the fresh water tank pump should be 'off'.
