Hi all, I bought a new Grand Surveyor and it has 2 Furrion Chill Cube AC units. I have some questions that I can't find answers to on their website or in the owner's manual.

1. What is ECO/GEAR mode? I mean - what do the initials stand for? And I get that the switch will toggle the unit to ECO - GEAR 75 - GEAR 50. But what does each setting "mean"?

2. My seasonal site is 30AMP, and I know that with traditional AC units, no way to run two units on 30 - would need 50. With the Chill Cubes, is there a setting that will let me run both AC units on 30 without tripping breakers?

3. I have to say that having to reach out is a bit frustrating as I think that either the dealer or the manual (or both) should have these answers - but I know there are lots of DIY folks and very experienced campers on here so I am hoping for help,

Thanks!

the chill cube is suppose to have a special power circuits (using an internal inverter and variable speeds )
so your a/c will run using much less power...

Have not seen a manual for it so cant tell exact power usage

My understanding / guessing you should be able to run BOTH at same time and it will use about same power as a single OLD style

Try it .............. worst that will happen is a breaker will trip

is there a link to a online manual?

Thanks Aussieguy. There is an online manual, but it is the same as the hard copy I have and neither of them address the question of 30 vs 50 Amps to operate both units. But I agree with you, I think it is designed to work and worst case is a popped breaker.

if you got a link to the online manual ... we'd like to see it
furrion / dometic are keeping it hidden

let us know how they run on 30amp supply

IF... it is not good you can take steps to increase to 50amp

so In that manual it says to use a dedicated circuit for each a/c

then says IF using a 50 amp to balance the load between legs
it does not say.... you cant use a 30amps for 2 a/c

what is notably missing is an expanation of how it save power and how the vaiable speed / inverter works

plus it only shows power consumption of 1330w
I would see if you can add find a watt meter you can use on the pedestal cord and watch what each unit draws

or use a multimeter with amp clamp .

Disappointing that they are not providing the info on if the cube can run at lower wattage
which is the BIGGEST reason why the inverter/variable speed units are all about
I'd fire the marketing / technical writers! (where's that Donald fella .....You fired!)

REMOTE CONTROLS
take note the remote is the thermostat and it should be left in a area that sends good average readings of the room... don't fall asleep and let the remote get under any bedding

There is some good info on using the remote as "follow me"

what size grand surveyor? I would have thought one would probably do around a 30 or so foot trailer?

I'm assuming your RV is a 50amp unit and you are using a 30 to 50 dog one for shore power?

Something like Hughes WatchDog EMS will allow you to watch your power usage so you will know if you are able to run both units and anything else.
