Gas leaks

What is the best process to check for leaks around outside joints in gas lines.

Try soapy water on the joints. Any leak will cause bubbles to form. There is a commerical product called 'Snoop' but I think it's nothing more than soapy water.

Gas leak detectors range from fancy electronic ones Portable LP Gas Leak Detector Finds Combustible Gases - PPL Motor Homes
to soapy water.

The electronic ones are not all that expensive, but the soap works almost as well.

The spray bottle ones professionals use are extremely "sudsy" but dish wash soap like dawn has served me just as well.
