Generator runs

Welcome to the forums!

Need more information to try to figure out what's happening.
  • Year, Make and Model number of your RV
  • Make model and wattage of the generator
  • Have you checked the circuit breakers on the generator?

More info will probably get more replies as said above.

Always start simple. Check for a tripped breaker. Next i would look at transfer switch.

Is this one of those situations where you have to plug the camper cord into the generator? (No transfer switch).

Generator runs but no power to the coach

Not sure we need more info....in 99.9999999999% of posts that start with "gen runs, but no power" it is 100% of the time, the breaker on the generator is off.

However, make and model of coach is always helpful.

Edit: sorry, Larry-NC pointed out the other option. So I change that to 80% of the time it is 100% the breaker. The other 20% of the time it is 100% you need to plug it in.

Though, if this post is correctly in the Dynamax section, we have used transfer switches since I have been here....so odds are breaker.

2021 Dynaquest xl 3801
Onan 8000 generator
Breaker is on
Seems like we had this problem before and had something to do with lcd
Screen in the coach but I’m not sure
Thanks

When you say, no power? What does that mean? No 12V, no 110V? No power to a specific item?

The Inverter is pass-through...meaning the 110V passes through the inverter no matter what. So it needs to be on (not necessarily inverting, but ON).

Power work when plugged in?

The 12 volt all seems to be working the fridge works with the inverted
Run the generator and the ac or microwave do not
Thanks for any help

Just for kicks……and takes no time to try…..

Manually turn OFF the generator breaker, and turn it back ON.

Breakers have been know to trip, but appear ON.

Finally…..when you run the generator, the ac or microwave do not work.
If you plug into shore power, these items all work okay?

Tripped the breaker on the generator didn’t help (worth a try)
Everything works when plugged to shore plug
Going to Moab this weekend would be nice to run ac

You can try cutting battery power to everything (probably three different switches, two outside and one in?)then powering everything back up. Power up your inverter last.
