Hey all! What does everyone use for a portable generator for their Geo Pro 15FBS? Yes, I do have solar panels but it won't power my A/C or microwave when there's no shore power. I'll take any suggestions! I'm new at this stuff so be patient with me!

solar is strictly to charge the batteries. technically, it wont run much of anything. what will run things is a battery bank and inverter if the 12v needs to be converted to 120v. a big enough inverter and battery bank will power AC and microwave but will also need a bigger solar array to charge that bank. What size generator will depend a lot on what you expect to run at the same time and some on what your Geo is set up for. if its a 30a, then there's not much need to get a 50a genny. a 30a genny will supply somewhere around 3600w. be careful if its peak or running. an AC will need 15a to run with spikes when the compressor kicks in. probably a genny with 3600w peak will work but you may need to do some power management like turn off the AC when using another high draw appliance. next question is how much weight can you lift/move. a 3600w genny will usually come in near 100#, I can't lift that in/out of the bed of my truck. i could leave it and run the power cord if I wanted or get something smaller. you can run an AC with a 2200w genny if the AC has a soft start installed or you can run 2x2200w gennys in parrallel at 40-50# each but obviously spending more $$.

1. you need to get an inverter generator, not an open-frame contractor-style generator. Inverter generators are much quieter.
2. Most campgrounds have generator hours. Some don't allow them. All depends on how you camp.
3. If you install a soft start kit in your a/c, an inverter generator with a minimum of 2200w, should be fine. The bigger the wattage, the larger and heavier the generator.
4. Honda and Yamaha are the gold standard but are the most expensive. But there are tons of other cheaper brands that are almost as good. Champion is the most popular choice for RVers.
5. Some like a dual fuel inverter generator. They can run on propane or gas.
