First time RV owner. Have a 2020 rockwood signature. So have read enough to know the heat pumps are not rated for below 40 degrees. And how it can lock you out after 3 strikes. But mine operates different, it’s like the zones are tied together. And when I have the heat electric on it blows out of the floor and not the 2 ceiling units. When it does blow out of the ceiling units it’s cold air. Is this normal? Or have I screwed something up?

you sure you got heat pump

go outside and turn off the propane .... If the heat stops your thermostat is controlling the FURNACE

If it's colds outside...
pull the 12v fuse for the furnace

1. What is the outside temperature where you have your Rockwood?
2. Are you mixing up a heat pump with a furnace?
3. What brand of furnace do you have?
4. On your thermostat, is your fan set to LO or HI or AUTO.

See this is your first post welcome to the forum. I doubt you have a heat pump. What make AC you have? Later RJD

I don't know of any Rockwood/Flagstaff product that comes with a heat pump, from the factory.
The A-frames do, and have since the beginning from Forest River. But the A-frame air conditioning/heat pump is not a standard RV A/C unit - it's a floor mounted Dometic 10K BTU (earlier models had 8.5K BTU) unit that looks a lot like a hotel unit with a remote thermostat. Installed under the rear bed.

The success of the Rockwood/Flagstaff A-frames and their A/C install forced A-liner to up their game. A-liners used to have a home room A/C installed through the wall, now they have a similar floor install.

The thermostat has separate modes for the A/C, heat pump, and propane heater. As was stated, the heat pump does not provide any heat when outside temp approaches 40deg F, and is pretty useless below 43. The unit will run and run and run, but only cool/cold air comes out the vents.

Sounds like both the campers I've owned. Hot air-- fed by the propane furnace -- blows out by the floor and cold air comes out of the the 120vAC air conditioner -- mounted on the ceiling/roof. Two entirely separate appliances albeit controlled in the later camper by the same thermostat. On the first camper I could run both at the same. Pointless but it could be done with their separate thermostats.
