Hello everyone,

I'm here to introduce myself. We are new to travel trailers, we haven't even purchased our first yet. We ar planning to purchase one at the end of the year. I like this one. Forest River 17SC Please give me your thoughts on this trailer for a couple of newbies. I'll be pulling it with a 2021 Ram 1500, 1520 pound payload. 5.7l 3.92 gears with the tow package.

While we may be new to RVing, we aren't new to road trips. We have been road tripping for the last 30 years. We have dragged our kids across the US several times, tent camping and hotels. Just this last summer I drove the entirety of US 50 from Sacramento, Ca to Ocean City, MD.

I'll take any and all advice on what I need to start road tripping with a travel trailer.

You need a bunkhouse, grey wolf 23dbh.

Any particular reason(s)?

Our kids are grown, for most trips it would either just be me and the dog or me and the wife and dog.

That is why we are leaning towards the 17SC for its small size. I am planning on taking it on several long trips. I am thinking it would be easy to pull across the country.

I really want to hear why I should consider another trailer. You guys and gals are the experts. I haven’t purchased anything yet, but I will be soon.

Hi and Welcome to FRF.
Forest River is the corporate name, not the brand name.
What brand is your 17SC? FR has around 35 different trailer brands.

Havlived and camped all over in Cali and lived in SoCal, Central Cal and NorCal. I can tell you from personal experience, good and reputable RV dealers are rare.
Avoid Camping World if you can and look for smaller dealers. Make sure you get a thorough PDI/walk-through before you pay for it. Make sure they have all systems up and operating. Make sure everything wrong gets fixed before taking possession.

The trailer you are considering is similar in size to ours. Very comfortabe to tow with our truck and very comfortable for my wife and me to camp in. If you are going to boondock try to get a propane fridge.

Your link shows that it's a FR Wolf Pup.
It will probably be a good tt for your journey.

It's lightweight and has a good layout for a couple.
The Cargo Carrying Capacity of 1396 pounds is higher than many rigs.
It's got mounting hardware for a swing out tv if you want one.
The only possible negative thing would be if you can get access to the bathroom when the slide is in. Can't tell by the description.

It's a brand new model, so you're probably not going to find someone here that has one. The Wolfpup is a good entry trailer, so if you like it, buy it.

Welcome to the forum!

Welcome to the forum. As mentioned do a good PDI. There is a printable form of the PDI on this site. Go to the green header bar above and click on Library then scroll down till you see PDI. Take it with you when you do your walk through ask lot of questions take notes. Good luck on your hunt for your camper. Later RJD
