Hi everyone!
Total newb here, we are considering moving from lightweight tent traveling [if it doesn't fit in the backpack it doesn't go] to a TT/HTT/Pop-up. I have read the posts over and over to get my head around the weight/size of any potential trailer. I'm not sure if I have it figured out [kinda dense with numbers] I would like someone who has the experience to review my findings. Thanks in advance! The heaviest trailer we are considering is the Rockwood 2306, I filled out the form at changingears.com, I read the results to say the 2306 GVW is +100 lbs over the max with 20% safety margin…?

Details:
TV GVWR - 6500
TV GCWR - 11600
Actual TV GVW - 5740 [Loaded with gear & family, weighed at CAT scale]
RGAWR - 3900
Actual RGAW - 3180 [from CAT Scale]
2306 dry + CCC = 4792 [since there is no GVWR listed]

AWD TV has manufacture tow package:
Listed Curb Weight - 4756
Listed Tow Max - 6200
Listed Tongue Weight Max- 620
Class IV receiver hitch
Heavy Duty Engine Cooling
220-Amp Alternator
7 and 4 Pin Wiring Harness
Rear Load Leveling Suspension

Here is the filled out the form at Changing Gears

Details of 2306 TT

Ha! I knew I was going to leave something out. It is a '14 Dodge Durango - All Wheel Drive 3.6 L V6 [290 horsepower, 260 lb-ft of torque].

Does the Durango have any kind of towing package? This would include the receiver hitch, auxiliary trans cooler, maybe an engine oil cooler? You at least need a good trans cooler, especially if you're going to be near the max weight.

Tow packages will often change the rear differential gears in your Durango. This often allows you to carry more/tow more.

Yes, it has the tow package from Dodge it includes

Class IV receiver hitch
Heavy Duty Engine Cooling
220-Amp Alternator
7 and 4 Pin Wiring Harness
Rear Load Leveling Suspension
