Hi fellow campers!

We have just recently upgraded from a 16' Scamp to a 22' 2019 Puma. Funny thing was we didn't realize when we bought it, the beautiful fridge is only electric. They must've made this model for those who stay for months in private campgrounds.

We've found that with two deep-cycle batteries, the inverter can run the fridge and even the furnace overnight. We use solar by day to charge and have a generator for when in a pinch.

We camp off the grid mostly but do enjoy an occasional electric site. We'll try to get an electric site next summer during the hottest weeks so we can use the air conditioner. :)

The only time we've had this one out was last week, and we had three chicks we couldn't leave at home alone, so they went with us.

We're both newly retired so hoping to get out camping around Wisconsin one more time this year, then put her in storage over the winter. Next year, we'll sure use our new Puma a lot as we love it!

Welcome to the forum. You will find most newer campers come with electric refrigerators does not mean they are for long term camping in one place with full hookups. Some thing you should have considered when looking for a camper lf you do a lot of boon docking should have looked at getting a 2 way Frig. Enjoy your camper and :signhavefun: Later RJD

Thank you.

Exactly. Coming from having a Dometec 3-way fridge in our Scamp, hubby and I made a bad assumption that all campers have something similar, especially a newer one. We did ask the seller if it ran on DC and took her word for it. This camper was only used a handful of times she said in city campgrounds so she never used it, just thought it did. We weren't savvy enough to inquire further before buying it. We did get a deal of 2K below book price for it so guess that's still a deal regardless! We're still happy as for a 2019, it is almost brand new.

About that picture.... Chickens? Do you camp with them?

Congratulations on your purchase and welcome to the forum!

Thank you so much!

No, generally we don't camp with them because a farmer neighbor watches over the older ones, but these three were too young to leave alone for more than overnight. I hatched them in our incubator, so I'm the "mom." If they are too little to stay alone for that long, then yes, we have to bring them with. They enjoy it. So do the chipmunks who kept sneaking in.

Welcome from another Wisconsinite. Congrats and enjoy your 2019 Puma!

Thank you! We're in Shawano County and usually head north an hour or two where we camp usually remotely, off the grid, but sometimes in county, state, or national campgrounds.
