Forgive the ignorance, but I'm trying to locate the hot water tank anode on my 2010 Solera. The manual is quite useless, as it only says the location differs from unit to unit. Previous owner has proven to be completely useless and never bothered to even winterize the RV!
I'm really hoping it might be readily accessible as I have become rather mobility challenged of late.
Can anyone help?
Doug

Welcome to the forum, I see it is your 1st post.

Give us the make/model of your water heater and someone will point you in the right direction and tell you exactly where it is.

Not all R/Vs have the same model heaters and not all water heaters have anodes.

You need to determine the BRAND of water heater.
Suburban do have anodes.
Atwood/Dometic do NOT have anodes.

Both have different types of metal lining in their water heaters.

On my 2012 Solera, I have a Suburban water heater. Anode is accessed by removing the external water heater cover. The anode/drain plug is a large (15/16?) hex head towards the bottom of the water heater. If yours has never been serviced it may be very difficult to remove. Be sure it is cool before removing! If I was having difficulty removing mine, I would try a wheel lug bolt impact wrench.
Regards, Jim

If you have a Suburban brand tank type water heater, then Video 1 provided by Suburban manufacturing at the FAQ link below will get you fixed up.

Might not need to know the exact model # as most rods have a 1 inch or slightly larger socket on the end. Look for it located in the middle or slightly below middle level. If you say previous owner wasn't doing maint then if you remove a large nut and there's a bare small dia rod the you've found it.

My 2012 Forest River Solara 24MS has a Suburban LP/Electric water heater. The switch to turn on the Electric heating element is under the outside cover and is a small rectangular switch and obviously only works on shore power or on the generator. Make sure you have water in the heater when you have it turned on or you will burn out the electric element. Turn it off before you leave so you don't forget.

The water heater anode is magnesium with a steel hex head and is on the bottom of the tank under the outside cover. You may need to use a 6 point socket if it has corroded itself on the threads. Usually the replacement Suburban anode comes with Teflon tape already applied to the threads. Don't use any pipe dope just the Teflon tape or it might not conduct to protect the glass lined steel tank. I replace mine every one to two years. Longitivity depends on the corrosive qualities of the water source.

Thanks everyone, it's in the Suburban tank. Actually easy to find!
