Well we are not new to camping, we are new to travel trailers... We still have (for now) our coleman pop-up, but we just purchased a 2006 Surveyor SV271. I think we stole it, but after getting home and not knowing much about self contained travel trailers, and really being super excited about getting a great deal that I overlooked some things, but still think we did good. 1st, the tanks were all full... The running, brake, and tail lights do not work... The couch is not mounted... and a couple little things... Took it camping this last weekend to give it a shake down, and empty the tanks... Everything worked great, but the lights, got some magnetic lights til I can figure it out... But when I went to empty the tanks, the bayonet nipples were not there, so the cap just fell off, and the hose would not go on. With 5 other RV'rs waiting on me, I decided to just give it another try after fixing the pipe... Any suggestions? For lights and tanks? I need to look at the couch to figure out how to remount it.

I'd check the 12v fuses to address your light issues. Also check the wiring from the connection at your truck back to the trailer - sometimes wires get pulled loose. I'd suspect that if your brake lights are not working, then the trailer brakes are also not working.

How could the prongs get removed from the sewer connection? A dealer could cut that connection off and put a new one on, or you could try that yourself - just plastic.

If you got this thing for cheap, then you are free to modify/customize it without worrying about resale value. So have fun with it!

Hello, and to the forums. Hope you enjoy the stay, and learn a lot, and can teach others what you already know.

As for your troubles, take your time, especially with the electrical. Make sure the tow vehicle is providing power first, then go from there. Don' forget to check the ground connection between the trailer and the tow vehicle.

12v fuses? Are these inside the TT?

We purchased it for 4500.00, talked down form 5500... So I think we did good.

I am thinking on buying an adapter that goes from a straight pipe to a bayonet pipe...

the 12v fuses and the 120 v breakers should be in the converter, a metal cabinet with a door that pops open. mine is below the refrigerator, it has automotive type plug in fuses. If your running lights don't work it might be a fuse in the tow vehicle.

Well one of the fuses under the hood of the tv was blown for the marker lights, and the tail lights were all rusted, so I now have lights... Now going camping today to empty tanks...

Well i got all the lights working except brake and turn signals... Black tank has turned into a brownie pan... But i did get the bayonette fitting replaced...
