In-Storage Heating options

My first winter coming up in Seattle area with my 2024 DX3 34KD. It’s in covered storage with 30 amp power.
Is it practical to have the aqua hot auto heat while I’m away or is that a bad idea? Just the electric not burner.
Or is plugging in a small portable electric heater inside advised?
Or skip any heat options altogether?

I plan to check on it every couple weeks.
Thanks for any advice.

I wouldn't risk it if there is a chance of freezing. I'd winterize it. A lot can go wrong in a couple weeks if the power goes out

how often does it go below freezing in Seattle?
Noaa data.... indicates freezing pipe bursting weather is not the norm?

covered storage with power I would use a space heater
and possibly make sure you inspect it...... if an actual freeze warning is in place
empty outdoor tanks and lines as insurance

The aqua hot on electric isn’t more heat than the space heater, but the aqua hot will keep the pipe areas warm where the space heater may not.

But if you’re not going to use the coach I agree winterizing is the easy way to go.

It's going to depend on what your winter weather will be this year.
If you think it's going to go below 30 and not rise above 30 during the day, then you need to put antifreeze in the system. There are winters in Houston where we don't winterize because we had a warm winter.

Relying on any system of heating is risky. If the power fails, the heater may fail and the pipes freeze. An ounce of prevention by winterizing can save you thousands of dollars in repairs.

There’s usually 2 or 3 weeks total where it’s into the 20’s each winter, not too bad. But I’ll take everyone’s advice to winterize in the next month or so, no reason to risk it sounds like. Thanks all.

I'm in the Seattle area as well, and we always winterise the rig, it doesn't take very long to do and there's great information in the manuals. I do keep a small dehumidifier plugged in inside, and occasionally I put a small electric oil filled heater inside (the kind that looks like an old-school radiator I just stand it in the middle and set it pretty low, this sort of just makes sure it doesn't get too cold inside)

I also run the generator once a month and usually put the heat pumps on for a draw for around 10 minutes.

For starters, we used to own a large Class A, I'm not talking about our current TT.

I left my AquaHot on, at a warm enough temperature to keep things from freezing. On our unit, the AquaHot also circulated the engine coolant, for two reasons - 1. to warm the water during travel, and 2. to keep the block warm during very cold temps.

I liked the fact that the AH system had lines throughout the floor and basement, as this kept those areas warm as well.

I never had a problem with any freezing. And yes, I'm in central Texas, but go back and look at Snowmageddon here, that was a very long term with very cold temps.

I did not really care what it cost to run during those cold spells, it sure was cheaper than having to replace a bunch of stuff due to freezing.

My rule #1 when i got a higher end coach: If i cant keep it inside, dont buy it.

I could never understand it, (Not knocking anyone here) but if you have the 200-500K to spend on a coach, how could you not afford to build a garage for it, or even purchase some property to put a garage on and store it.

Keeping a coach outside year round hurts the roof, exterior, batteries, and all sort of other bits and pieces. Resale value drops...etc.

Keep it inside or dont have it.

I live in a city where I am fortunate enough to have just enough room to keep the Europa at my house.

However, due to setback restrictions, and the lot size, I am not allowed to build a structure anywhere that the RV will fit on my property, so no garage for me

I would love to keep my rig indoors, but I can't.

I use it regularly and hate to let it sit for any period of time.

So it's either find indoor storage (which the closest is 45 minutes away) and never use the rig.

Or keep it outdoors at my house, use it almost every weekend and do the best I can with it sitting outdoors.
