Hey guys! I tried to look the forums over in answer to a question I had. I wanted to add some depth to the IVR 32 base unit. I tried to search the threads, and if the answer was in the Forum, I was not smart enough to find it. So, I did what any Red Blooded Son of the South would do, I decided to try my dumb idea and just throw money at it.
I went to Best Buy, and found a Sub with a built in amp, a crossover, and the RCA jacks I was looking for. It was NOT in the video section, all the subs they had there were part of a set with included Sound Bars, instead this was in the component home stereo section. I bought a Sony SA-CS 9 for only $250. It had all the hardware I was looking for, and he'll, it's ONLY money lol.
NOW, part I didn't know. When I plugged the RCA cable Into the IVR head unit red output, I was concerned that would bypass the original sound bar that was installed. I am pleased to say it did NOT! The sub works, the sound bar is still operational! I put the sub behind the flat screen, and since I already had the head unit loose, it was easy to run the RCA wire behind the paneling with the rest of the wiring. I have a clean install, a hidden sub enclosure, and base to enjoy on both my TV and head unit.
Just wanted to let anyone with my dumb idea of doing this, that it actually works
