Open a browser on your tablet or phone and go to forestriverforums.com and log in as if your were on your computer.

It was announced here, months ago, that the FRF app for Android and IPhone was discontinued.
There is supposed to be a new one developed but nothing has been announced.
The closest thing to an app now, is the mobile version of the full website.

On a tablet you can open a web browser and view the full site as might do with a desktop computer, or you can use the same web browser to view a de-featured mobile version. (A reduced feature example is that the mobile version does not display signatures where posters might describe their RV). I run the full version on an iPad (and on an iPhone, too). The version is selectable at the bottom left corner of the page.

I run the website in the Chrome browser on an Android phone. Good for responses, kinda cumbersome if I have to include an image from the web.

X2
Or if you want to highlight and embolden text.
This forum could do better for its members.

It's one of the best for knowledgeable members and information... and one of the worst with its ancient software and lack of an app.

Phones and tablets are not the best for TEXT
without a keyboard or mouse highlighting is a PITA
Hate using websites with phones

a) the software used here is about the same as all other forums I have ever been on
It is supplied and written by a 3rd party software company
It was NOT written by the owners of this forum.. they just drop in their own images for the header etc (Branding)

b) Forest River ... the company
is NOT affiliated with the forum and does not supply the software or funds

There are some shortfalls on every forum... getting forum developers to add new features can take a lot of time.

All correct, but...

That's all correct. But you didn't mention that the version of the software that's currently being used is way out of date. The newer versions are reported to have fixed all the ease-of-use issues that are regularly reported here. Upgrading the software version is much less daunting than switching to a different brand.

By the way, did you notice that a tiny upgrade seems to have been made recently? There used to be two green buttons at the bottom of each post, Quote and Reply. Now two more have been added, Multiquote and Quick Reply. The Quick Reply button just saves you from scrolling to the bottom of the page where that button has always existed, but the Multiquote button saves one from an operation that isn't too difficult on a computer but is REALLY cumbersome on the phone--namely including quotes from two different posts in the same response.

Humm....
The full version of the website has had FIVE buttons (Edit for your own post within an hour or so) since I became a member years ago. (not sure about before that?) The website mobile version only has two buttons. I've used the multiquote button when on the full website version forever.

Those buttons have always been there.

the extra buttons ....multi quote has been there for as long as I can remember

Some updates can/could require a complete upgrade even to the database
so 3.8 may be the only compatible version the current server will allow
moving servers is NOT a lot of fun...

Whois search indicates that they are using a shared server .... and would have very little say in what databases and other software they can use.
they could go dedicated so they have complete controll... but the cost will be huge.

If it works and does all you expect it to do.............leave it alone

Amen to that. I detest not having a keyboard and would never bother going on forums using a stupid little phone screen and no keyboard, don't know how anyone finds that enjoyable.

Here’s the keyboard on my phone. It’s enjoyable!

A lot better if you're open to learning a little.

Set up a Swype style keyboard. On Android, for each word, you touch the first letter, then lightly trace through the others. The smart dictionary figures out the word and shows 2-3 alternatives. If the right one is in the text (usually is), just start the next word. If not, just tap the correct alternative and proceed. This was originally a paid-for third-party app, but is now a free option called Gboard available from Google, with more smarts. This was so well accepted that Apple copied it, several years ago, but never announced it because they weren't first. Also see https://www.androidpolice.com/how-to-change-android-keyboard/

Set more characters on the keyboard. First select Gboard as your default keyboard. Then open any app that allows text entry and shows the keyboard. Just above the keyboard is a Gear (Settings). Click it. Then select Preferences. Then enable Long Press for Symbols. When you back out of this section, you will see that each key has the original symbol, and above it, a small second symbol. To enter that symbol, you long-press the key. For example, to enter a 7, you long-press U. To enter a ?, long-press M. To enter @, long-press A. This saves a frustrating trip to and from the alternate keyboards.

I suppose there is an iOS equivalent.

Copy/Paste begins with a long-press on any word. The word will be highlighted with draggable pins at either end. Drag them until the desired area is highlighted. A floating tool bar will give you the options to Cut, Copy, Web-Search, and Share as well as Send and Discard. When you go to another spot in this app or another app, the copy buffer is remembered, same as Windows. Long-press in any text field and the floating tool bar offers you the Paste option.

Aint got the time left in me.... to worry about using the crappy little phone keyboard
fat old fingers and little tiny buttons just is not for me

If other people can............. good for them

lost count, trying to compose a reply on the phone
only to have the session timeout ...... and won't let me submit.
after I just spent ages ONE finger typing all that reply out!

Only use the phone while in the waiting room for appointments

and for my work laptop bluetooth mouse and keyboard
won't use the crappy laptop fingerpad or keys either...

And the kicker... Call me Iwritecodetoo
since 1998 ... Ive been contract php web programmer
actually should say ... Ihackphptoo no OOP either
not going to learn that either at my age

Thank you. Thought I was going crazy.
