Freedom 3000 pro? This is in a Dynamax Isata3 Freedom RV with a Firefly Int controller and Xantrex remote panel

Recently the Inverter was replaced due to hardware failure code 10. I installed replacement and set up inverter to Dynamax specs.

What’s happening is when engine is started the inverter turns on. I had option 1 set to Ato but have also tried off and LOt with same result. I’ve turned off battery packs and killed power to system and brought back up with same issue.

The other issue I’m seeing is this error that the firefly is reporting but I’m not seeing anything from the soc panel. Firefly is reporting “xantrex pack 1 faulting”

I don’t think the two are related but trying to get these issues addressed

Other than I can’t turn inverter on or off using the app all is good. Firefly checking on program issue on this one

I’m posting this in the FB Xantrex group, and Isata3 also

I assume you mean you aren't able to turn the Inverter / Charger On or Off via FireFly. There are some issues with the FireFly communicating with some of the systems for sure.

Next..... the Inverter will always be on when plugged into shore power. However, if you are not on shore power, turning the Inverter off using the remote panel will keep it off.... even if the engine is running.

If you do have the remote Bluetooth panel, it is highly likely the service techs did not first turn the Inverter off using the the built-in control panel. I have seen this happen numerous times. It happened when I had my Inverter replaced because of the E10 Failure.

The built-in control panel needs to be switched off in order for the Remote panel to take full control of the Inverter / Charger.

This could also be causing your issue with the Firefly Control. I wouldn't think it would but it could be possible.

As far as the Pack 1 Fault..... is there a Fault on the eGen display or only on the FireFly Display?

The inverter goes into bypass mode when plugged in. When remote panel is off it stays off Like I would think it should.

Before i installed the remote panel I made to sure to turn main button on inverter off and have verified such

The firefly Mira app has a red flashing light on top corner - When you open it Pack fault is what is displayed.
When I check individual cells on the SOC remote panel no errors shown and no errors shown on remote panel.

FireFly support says they only report info they get from the Xantrex system.

My biggest issue is when I start the van the invertor comes on unless I have the remote panel button off. You shouldn't have to do that and you should be able to turn it on or off via app. If it was not designed to do that then I guess I adjust to it. I would think that the firefly would over ride either button as long as both remote panel and inverter button is off. When they are off and try and turn inverter on via firefly panel it flashes and then goes off again.
If you forget to turn inverter off and park with van off the inverter will continue to draw power.

I believe there is an option for the Inverter to be wired to the Igntion so it turns on and off with the ignition. I don’t think it is supposed to be wired that way from Dynamax.

option 1 in the menu for the inverter has "OFF ATO and LOt". Dynamax suggest LOt. I've tried all three

I guess what I'm asking is if anyone can check and see if when the start the van and the Inverter is off on the firefly panel does the inverter come on!!

I’m not with my rig….. I’ll check in a few days but I’m fairly sure mine stays off when it is turned off when the van is running or not.

The way it would work if wired according to the attached instructions is the Inverter would only turn on if the ignition is in the RUN position. This option is available when a chassis / starting battery is used to also power the Inverter. The "OFF ATO and LOt"setting would only apply of wired that way.

Our Inverter should not really be wired that way because we have separate house batteries and we want the Inverter to be able to be powered on when the engine is not running.

But if we assume you have the Inverter off with the Remote Panel ON / OFF button (and the built-in panel has the power switch in the OFF position) then even if the Inverter came on while the vehicle was running, it should shut off when the ignition is turned off and the 12V signal is removed.

There was a TSB to cut a wire in the battery compartment. I can't recall the reason at the moment without looking at the document.... but have you had the TSB done?

I'm glad you guys post all of these issues with firefly system. I know to never buy an RV with it installed. Always sounds like It's a real PITA.

That is what happens in our Isata 3 Freedom as well. Whenever we start the motorhome the inverter will turn on regardless of the option setting.

It's not as bad as it sounds.

I have never had any issues with it controlling he main systems like lights, A/C, fans, slides, etc. and I have owned two coaches with the FireFly.

The issues are mainly communicating with sub-systems that have their own separate controls like a Xantrex Inverter or a Truma Combi so you simply use the separate controls for those devices. It is more of a convenience issue than an actual function issue in these cases.

I'll buy a third coach with a FireFly System based on my experience with the two I've had.

Likewise. As far as FireFly goes. Had some initial teething issue with the sensor reporting which was primarily connection based and a bad black tanks sensor due to water intrusion into the connector. After fixing those issues FF has been reasonably reliable.

But there are some reporting glitches related to non-FireFly modules like Truma, Xantrex, etc. As Judge64 mentioned in those cases it is easy to use the specific controls for those modules.

Over all the eGen system is working pretty well. I had the inverter fail on a trip and Xantrex was very responsive and got a replacement installed very quickly and we only had some minor irritation with the inverter dying.

There are some other issues that are being worked though related to the alternator charging, but I do expect that we are closing in on the root cause and that should be totally resolved in a week or two.

So I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another RV with eGen and/or FireFly.
