I've heard a lot about Quartzsite, AZ and will be traveling thru there next weekend for a couple nights.

Here tell there are huge flee markets and events. We plan to spend a whole day in the area and wonder what and where are the must see and do things?

For those interested, I did find a good site with local information.

Go to TheScenicRoad.com and click on the EVENTS Tab. The site has a list of events all season, and other things of interest.

I think it's a little early for all the events that go on; just about everything starts in January. But this wisdom comes from what I've read on the internet, not from personal experience.

We have visited and there is a lot of stuff going on.

It is my understanding that the "lemon law" is not enforceable in AZ just in case you are planning a purchase.

Went thru there about 10 days ago, you can see pretty much everything from the highway, there are a few flea markets open but not much, gotta wait for warmer weather.

January is the big month. RV parks full, along with the BLM long term visitor areas. Lots of rocks for sale. Things are ramping up now. If you boondock, pay the small fee to the BLM so you can dump and get fresh water when you need it.

I was there this past week, Tuesday and Wednesday and not much going on. The Tyson Wells swap meet only had a few vendors. Others were starting to set up. I would think it will take a few more weeks to be good. We always go when the RV Show is going, it is busy but everything is open.

Been there done that. Pack your wallet full of cash! There is just about everything there that is related to an RV. Wouldn't say the prices are that great but you can barter a bit and you won't find a better selection of product anywhere else. We will stop there again in January with our shopping list.

By the way, has anyone seen if any vendors carry the AP Products replacement door window with tinted window and shade.

you could visit Hi Jolly's grave site in quartsite. go to

"wiki - Hi Jolly" or Hadji Ali - for your quite interesting (to me)history lesson.

one of the few actual camel drivers employed by the US Army in the late 1800's.

Teetime: Someone mentioned the BLM land that requires a fee so you have access to freshwater and dump. It may have changed, but last time I stayed there they charged a two week minimum. If you are staying only a short time the best bet is to drive about 5 miles south of Quartzsite to La Paz Road (about highway mileage marker 99). You may see a host (often not there). There is no charge, just drive out into the desert (gravel roads are firm) and find a private place. We often do this. Much better than the paid BLM.

What's the fee if one has an "America the Beautiful Lifetime Senior pass?

We spent the day there yesterday, and yes, there will be much more in a few weeks. But for a Quartzsite beginner, there was much for us to see for a day and get used to the area. Looking forward to spending a few days on our return trip.

I guess we just don't get the draw. We have been there three times staying from a few days to 10. We kept thinking we were missing something;)

Some of the bigger shows are interesting for the first day. Never found anything we couldn't get elsewhere. There are a few attractions in the surrounding area for day trips.

Lots of eccentric folks to meet;). Some serious off the gridders.

Basically just a giant year round flea market and a cheap place for full timers to congregate for the winter.

I'm baffled.....

Hi,

My recollection is that it was $40 for two weeks, and I did not get a discount for the pass.

For the last two years, I stayed two weeks for free at Plomosa (north of town), four weeks for $80 at La Paz, and two more for free at Plomosa. Eighty bucks for two months...

FWIW.

Hi,

FYI, this is what La Posa offers visually on the west side of the highway. A bit less crowded than over on the east side...
