Mileage expectancy of goodyear tires (edited)

In April 2020...I purchased 5 - ST215/75R14 NEW Goodyear ENDURANCE TRAILER TIRES to replace the Chinese tires that were on the TT when I bought it new.

I had the tires mounted on the original rims & had them all spun balanced. I have a tire pressure system installed and the tires are always checked before trips for the proper inflation of 65 PSI.

In storage the tires are always covered to protect them against UV, That all said... We are making a 8,800 trip starting in July, covering Florida via California, Oregon Coast, and home,

What can I expect as far as mileage from these tires ??? I can not find any info on average mileage life span on properly maintained trailer tires .

Any info would be appreciated

1. How many miles are on these tires since you bought them April 2020?
2. I’ll suggest the way you take care of your tires, these are NOT going to be a concern for your trip in July. I don’t own these tires, but I’ve had several trailer tires of a lesser grade that covered wayyyyyy more mileage than what you’re proposing, and never became a concern.

I replaced my OEM tires in 2018 with a set of Goodyear Endurance tires. They now have 18000 miles on them and I would estimate I have at least 6000 miles of tread left.

I've never heard of MARATHON ENDURANCE tires.

Goodyear Marathon... yes. (Made in China)

Goodyear Endurance... yes. (Made in the USA)

If you bought MARATHONS, they are real old stock...Goodyear no longer makes the Marathon....The Goodyear Endurane are the Trailer tires now made in the USA... I have a set on my trailer that have well over 10000 miles on them and they are still in excellent condition... They were put on my trailer new in January 2018 and i will replace them this fall for a 6-7 thousand mile trip I have planned... I bout rims and tires so I always have 4 spares on a long trip.....

Tire mfgrs. don't publish mileage expectations for ST tires, and most people don't wear out the tread, rather, they age out. My recommendation is to check them daily and have a replacement plan ready if needed.

X 2 I would check to see if really are Endurance tires. These tires have only been out for a little over 2 years and not a lot of feed back on them. I had Endurance tires put on my new camper the day I bought it and have 5000 miles on them with little wear. If you maintain the tires as you said you should see good mileage results. Later RD

I replaced oem and had 20k trailer miles on the Goodyear endurance.
One tire was cut buy the slide out bracket on my Primetime Crusader along the outside edge. Right rear location. Had I looked underneath I would have observed the polished silver bracket doing it's damage when road bumps compressed the spring and allowed the contact. A poor design by Primetime, no fault of the tire. I had to have the trailer lifted to keep it from happening again. Shame on Primetime for not stepping up. Total refusal on a NHTSA complaint. I was lucky to have a nail flat in the cut tire before it cut itself catistrophically. Discount tire refused to fix the flat due to the cutting issue.

I ended up replacing the opposite side rear tire about 1500 more miles later as well. Not enough tread to feel safe.

Currently i am running two new and two old GY endurance. The old tires are 4 years old and will probably be replaced after this season. The old tires hope to get 26k miles. Will see and am keeping a closer eye on them.

Ive got Goodyear endurance I put on last spring 25 pack 12...and asked them about best case pressure for certain weight on two axels ? Goodyear refered me to one of their tire charts....where 85 lbs psi is maximum pressure for 87 mph tire....and in that chart i was able to get my tire size, weight carried on two axels and pressure for those tires. my trailer with full water tanks n groceries is 9940lbs...so minimum wear pressure is 65psi 2500lbs load per tire. ( tires have full tread contact across the tread for max purchase minimum wear ) and im still getting the improved diesel mileage I gained when I tossed the Castle Rock China Bombs !

A note on tire mileage. If you are someone who constantly measures tread depth and projects mileage just remember that the first half of the tread usually wears faster than the last half of the usable tread.

More "squirm" in a "tall tread" and less as it wears down. Look at the eraser on a pencil. Rub it back and forth when brand new and note how much eraser material is rubbed off. Do the same on a half worn eraser and you'll notice far less material rubbed off.

Our local "Discount Tire" store in Wenatchee, Wa still sells brand new Marathon tires.. With that said.. suggest spend the extra $26 more per tire and get a tire made in the USA..

Just put on my 2nd set of GY Endurance tires. 1st set went on in 2016, I think. So let's say 5-6 years of usage. Still had tread left. One of them was down to 15 psi coming out of winter hibernation. Saw cracks occurring in tread grooves and decided it was time to avoid a blowout this season

I put on a set of Goodyear Endurance tires in the spring of 2017. I'm replacing mine with next week with another set of the Endurance. 11,000+ miles and tread still looks good. I do mostly boondocking and take some pretty rough roads. I never had a flat or any issues with the first set. Very happy with them.

Since you are looking for a number:

I had about 22K on the OEM Castle Rock tires on our Roo (granted a much smaller trailer than you have). I had thought to run them one more season but changed them out at the last minute due to sidewall cracking. They were about 4 years old at that time. I would expect the Endurance tires to be able to surpass that.

It's about peace of mind. I take some very rough roads in the middle of nowhere. Most of the time no cell service. I change tires every 5 years regardless. Im sure they would last another year or two for the asphalt campers.

The OP has not been back to this thread since posting the question 4.5 months ago. Would be good to know if the tires are Marathons or Endurance. I suspect the responses would be different for the two tires. The GY Marathons have a “so-so” reputation. The GY Endurance tires rarely have a story of poor performance.
