Mini LiFePO4

I have a full sized 100 ah LifePo4 that had a bad BMS (Dr Prepare). They sent me a new one. I pulled apart the old battery, it's almost half foam spacers. I would guess the padding is what is missing.

Actually a different type cell.

I was tempted to buy the mini batteries also but for some reason I just decided to go with what has been working in the market for the time being. Let the minis be out there for a bit before buying. And the full size LifePo4 would fit into the space I had available anyway. My main like about them was the weight difference but I was moving my batteries off the tongue anyway.

Article on the differences.

Are Minis As Mighty As Standard Sized 12.8V 100Ah LiFePo4 Batteries - Cheap RV Living

when you look at the actual size of 4 x 100ah CELL
the mini's are just made to fit the cell size, they doing it too for the 280 and 300 sizes

I guessing... would people buy the small ones compared to the Large obviously more powerful standard sizes?
not many people knew much about amp hours and cells

nowadays more people look at ah and not size?

The mini's are using pouch cells which of the three types of cells, Cylindrical, Prismatic, and Pouch, are the most vulnerable to Heat dissipation issues, swelling, and potential physical damage.

Yes, smaller format batteries with same capacity is nice but the main attraction to manufacturers is most likely they're cheaper to manufacture with cheaper materials.

Might be fine for Van's and small RV's just using for low current devices. For those who have more current intensive needs, internal battery heat can become an issue with pouch cells. Yes, they're used in EV's however EV batteries also have their own cooling systems.
