Mondays at the tire shop

No such word in the light. The "international" symbol looks something like this: (o) to indicate a drum.
Explain how when the parking brake is engaged on my F-150 there's a big, bright, red BRAKE illuminated in the instrument cluster.
Ford probably had customers like one in wmtire's story in mind as they made so when customer puts transmission in gear, and steps on accelerator, it releases brake and red "BRAKE" goes off.

And a good thing too, I would probably never realize the indicator is a drum and brake shoes. At least I think it is once looking at it.

Just look at my avatar pic. 99% of those have 4 wheel drum brakes..... :)

Got curious my 2015 Honda Pilot only says brake in red, but my 2005 Dodge 3500 has Brake in red and the symbol. The batteries are out of both Mustangs for the winter so don't know on them.

Almost as funny as the customer stories are all the tangents we delve off into caused by this thread.

..........................and things we remember, or take for granted, even those that were not so smart. Every now and then we can relate......... :roflblack: :roflblack:

This customer tale just became funny after the phone call. I had a guy in here this morning looking for a pair of used tires in a very unique/rare size. He had a real deep voice that reminded me of LSU's former Coach O.

I told him he may have a real hard time finding these used and I could order some new ones. He basically dismissed me and said everybody had these tires used except me and he would shop elsewhere. He then left.

Well, nearly an hour later, he just called on the phone asking if I had a pair of these same size tires used. It was also that same unmistakable voice.

As bad as I wanted to say "I told you so", I refrained and told him I could order him some new ones. He declined.

I guess "everybody has them" was wishful thinking not grounded in reality. I do have a lot of experience with that.

"Everybody has them" and not only that, they're cheaper too....
Yeah, hear that all the time only to have them slink back later in the day after wasting time, money and gas to drive all over town and buy the one we have. I manage the building materials department at a small hardware/building supply store. Despite our size we are very competitive.
My favorite is when someone comes in, bangs the desk and insists we have to match the pricing from a nearby big box store. And then watch in disbelief when I smile and calmly raise my price to "match" the other guys because we were already lower.....

This was a long time ago, but my brother borrowed my V8 Dodge Dakota and called me saying it was down on power. It just so happened that my mom and dad were at my house, so I told him to bring it over and we'd take a look at it (my dad was an amazing mechanic, ran his own shop for decades). It's nighttime by the time he gets to my house, he pulls into my driveway and the rear brakes are glowing almost as bright as the sun. There was no question what the problem was - he left the parking brake on. He didn't see the glowing BRAKE light either.

He doesn't by chance have a daughter in Louisiana? Asking for a friend
