Mondays at the tire shop

You should have made him a deal that he could pay you only $16 a week, for 18 months. He'd be getting a deal ("deal" is a relative term in this case), you'd make 300% more profit (over what you were gonna make anyways), everyone wins

I only win "IF" he pays. I'm not setup to go repo the tires if he doesn't. I don't have the cinder blocks the rent-to-own places leave your vehicle on when they do the repo. Lol

Good Grief, my Monday is already in the dumper. There was an irate dude awaiting me when I arrived this morning. He was telling me how he had to take off work this morning to bring back this tire his wife bought from me Saturday that was flat the next day, and how the tire AND me weren't worth a crap (not actually word).

I try to explain to him that I'm wasn't open on Saturday, nor did I sell that tire. He then tells me I sure did sell it Saturday to his wife and I am lying. I assured him that there was definitely someone lying alright, but it wasn't me. I then pointed to the hours of operation sign in my window that says "CLOSED SATURDAY & SUNDAY"

I then tell him to get with his wife and find out where she really did buy the tire. He tells me again she got it here, and I was lying. This kind of set me off and I reiterated my previous statements but in my big boy voice.

I think my tone, may have made him rethink his confidence, so he called, I guess his wife. I could hear him asking where the place she got the tire from was. I then saw the smugness drain from his face. When he got off the phone, I am just staring at him, awaiting my apology. I even tried to help fast forward the situation and made the "gimme, gimme" motion with my fingers.

He didn't apologize, or even say anything, but just got back in his truck. I did add, also in my big boy voice, that "I knew he was sorry, even if he didn't say so".

He now stared at me for a moment, but backed up and drove off.

He left in the direction of the AFAB place, but that doesn't mean that's where he went. He also may have just been a scammer too.

I need to go to my joke websites, to help my mood.
Too bad the drainage ditch didn’t get him on the way out.

Well, this thread may be coming to an end, cause according to the guy earlier this morning...I will not be working here once he talks to his good friend, the owner.

I came up here around 6:30 this A.M. to do weedwacking in the front of the shop and by the road before traffic got bad so I don't sling rocks onto vehicles. I hardly had gotten started good when I noticed a vehicle over at the coin operated air compressor in the convenience store parking lot across the road from me. I know this one is out of operation but I was hoping he wouldn't come over here, as I am not open nor have my air compressor even turned on. Ya probably have already figured out, I didn't get my wish.

While I was out by the money making drain, he pulled up to the closed bay door and starts honking his horn to get my attention. I walk over to him, who was sitting in his vehicle with the window down. He tells me he needs to check the air in his tires. I inform him we do not open till 8 and I am just up here trying to get the trimming done while it was cool and no traffic. He demands that I open up and check his air as he has places to be. I tell him again that we don't open till 8.

This is when he tells me he is friends with the owner (I am now trying to hold my laughter in) and I had better do what he says or I won't like the consequences. I do have to ask him what consequences could there be as I am curious.

He tells me I may not have a job when he talks to his buddy (the owner). I do chuckle at his BS, which I think upset him more. I now tell him the only reason I am even up here is the judge told me I could go to prison, get married, or work at a tire shop...but I now think going to prison would have been the better option instead of having to deal with people like him. This set him off.

He now angrily tells me I can kiss my job goodbye, cause he is going to get his friend to fire me. I'm still smiling/laughing. I actually now crank the trimmer back up and am about to walk away when he tells me he is serious. I look at him, while I'm still smiling, and inform he can wait till the owner gets here and to do his best as I had better things to do. I then ask him what is the owners name, you know your good friend.

He just says he doesn't have time for this feces (not real word), and backs up. He tries to scratch rocks with his tires as he pulls into the road but almost gets hit by another vehicle as he wasn't paying attention.

So when he gets with his good friend, who he doesn't know the name of (or apparently even what he looks like), I may not have any.more tire stories......but for some odd reason I believe I will. Do ya think I will?

It must be very stressful, having to work in such a high pressure environment. Just fearing for your job every day. Next thing we know you will be turning to old Jack Daniels for moral support!

You accidentally made a joke there, and I love it. Unfortunately though, the crazy guy didn't get any of his high pressure (air).

You could have said “I’m just the gardener. I think they open at 8.” But your story was much more fun.

This is about to get epic. He just called. When I answered the phone, he said he needed to speak with the owner about a bad experience he had here this morning. I told him I was the owner but busy and would have to call him back. He gave me his number.

I need ideas quick on what to say to him. The funnier the better.. Should I let him know it was the owner this morning?

You could listen and tell him you will give the employee a raise for following your instructions. Thank him for letting you kn ow you have such a loyal employee. Also mention that it was on camera.

Due to previous issues, you are under court order to never open the shop before 8 AM. If your employee had opened, he knew he would have to pay the fines, they would be deducted from his pay check.... :devilish:

If you want this individual as a customer apologize profusely.

If not then admit you were the one whacking the weeds and just wanted to see how far he was willing to go with his lie about being a friend of the owner.

Call him out on his being a lying sack----.

He'll probably go off to torment another tire store, not your's.

About to call him back. Stay tuned.

Odds are, if you tell him that it was you, he's just going to call you a liar and say that you are pretending to be the owner so that you don't get in trouble.

I would tell him that my employee told me that someone pulled into the parking lot and flat-out out LIED, trying to get him to open up early. That some dude was claiming to be my friend, and that my guy should break procedure and open up the shop without me there.

And then follow up with "wait, that wasn't YOU, was it???"
