Heard a scraping noise and found the pump hanging from hoses and cables. The mount is welded to the frame with a arm that extends inward for the pump to sit on. The arm broke off of the plate that is welded to the frame. I had noticed awhile back that the pump looked like it was hanging a little lower. Likely from all the slamming in all the California pot holes! Anyway, has anyone had to deal with this? I will definitely want a stronger mount installed. It did scrape a hole in the reservoir tank. I'm hoping to be able to just replace the tank.

Thank you for any info.

Is the frame still intact? If so drill a couple of holes in the frame and pump mounting and bolt the item in place. Based on the weight and thickness of metals, you'll have to determine what size bolts to use.

Welding is great as long as the welder knows how and what to use to weld properly. There are lots of "rod burners" around but not many good welders. Too much heat or too little heat with the incorrect rod and flux makes for a poor-strength weld.

Repair of pump issue

Today I finished re-hanging the pump. I cut the mount part off the frame that Forest River had welded on, and instead made a plate that bolted on the frame using the existing holes on the Ford frame. Then I used the original bottom section that the pump sits on, and had it welded to the plate, but added a gusset from the plate down to the bottom section. This will strengthen the section where the other mount failed. This was something that FR should have put on to begin with! Also, as a safety note, when the pump fell down, it pulled the rear brake hydraulic lines out of their supports. If the pump got torn off it could have caused brake failure!

Hole in plastic tank

I forgot to mention that when the pump assy. hit the ground, the plastic tank scraped a small hole in the lower corner. And as I think I've seen on this forum, Lippert does not sell a replacement tank, confirmed (I contacted them) They would gladly sell me a new pump ($1600.00). So fortunately the hole in the tank was very small, so I used Quick Steel plastic tank sealer and it seems to be working! Stick it Lippert!

Yes I own a 2018 Forester 2801 and my Hydraulic Pump Motor and tank for Lippert Leveling Systems fell off when I was driving it and I heard an alarm for leveling jacks I brought the RV to lazy days RV for repair and the technician looked at it and said the spot weld never penetrated the chassis. He also said when it fell it almost tore my brake lines out. has this happened to anybody else? I’m facing thousands and repairs. Just wondering if this is a common issue.

Fix for mount

I'm posting pics of the repair and pointing to where the original failure happened...hence the gusset.
