Anyone planning on camping in western NC, SC, GA, or Eastern TN better make other plans. I know most folks realize there were floods in these areas last week but the road, bridge, power, and other utility outages are absolutely terrible.

Seriously, don't even think of going there before next spring. Asheville, NC had 24" of rain in 24 hours last Thursday 9/26/24. Entire small towns nestled beside small streams and rivers are completely gone.

Just a heads-up.

Yes. This looks very bad. We spent a week in Swannanoa last summer and drove I-40 from Tennessee to get there. Have looked up some of the campgrounds there and they are closed. The KOA looks to have been wiped out as its right on the river.

This is too bad.

For the so many that call this region home……total devastation in such a beautiful part of the country.

The rebuild will take weeks, months and years depending on their proximity to the infrastructure that has been decimated. They will need to focus on rebuilding just for the necessities of life.

They don’t need the additional traffic of anyone just on vacation. That just rubs salt on their wounds. Reschedule your visit to be anywhere else for the time being, and wish them all the best to power through this disaster.

I agree Ken,

We spoke with some friends in Asheville and it is bad, real bad. Even worse than they are showing on tv.
It's going to take time and tourists wanting to peep leaves and ride motorcycles are not what they need right now.

Even those who stop in that area when heading south to snowbird better plan ahead.

And don't forget, many Gulf Coast places in FL are in bad shape as well.

My heart goes out to all involved in the devastation. Many have lost everything.

A friend had forwarded me a pic from around Asheville.
