My solution to awning lights

Wasn't sure how I was going to mount them. At first I thought I would put a Velcro strip on the awning tube and another on the light strip. That didn't work since the Velcro wouldn't stick to the LED strip. After looking at the strip lights I thought It looked like they would fit in the rail on the awning. Well they did! And better yet, they will roll up right in the awning. Take a look, I can get some closer pictures of them in the daylight tomorrow.

I have a manual pull down awning. Are you saying these lights will fit in the same channel the center strap fits in? Just wondering how this would work if you were to leave the lights in and roll them up inside. (Where does the strap fit in)

I have a power awning, so there isn't a strap. In your case you would have to take them out before rolling up the awning. Yes it fits in that channel. It slips in very easily so it wouldn't be a big deal to do.

Sorry, let me add this. If the lights were to sit inside that channel the strap would stay to the far left or right when rolling it up.

Or maybe you have an electric awning with no strap??? Is this the case?

I also installed a similar LED light strip, but mine has double sided tape on it.

I simply stuck it on the metal roller, between the awning and the slot, since I have a manual awning it needed to stay clear. I leave it there, the awning rolls up as usual.

I have a 13ft awning and the strip was 16ft, so I cut it (can be cut to length every 4 inches or so). The multi coloured effects are fabulous, the remote blows people away.

Well, let me tell you, we were the talk of the campground last weekend , never had so many visitors .

I just ordered 6 for friends (so many people are scared of buying off eBay...) Will help them with the install.

Highly recommended mod.

No I haven't done that yet. Haven't gotten enough nerve up to tackle it. I'm a bit electrically challenged.

Here are a few close ups of the lights in the track. It's very snug and I don't think I will have any worry of it falling out. The only thing I've found is that after its been rolled up in the awning I had to pull the strip out a little bit. Also I don't think the little plugs will do any damage to the awning.

That's where I'm putting mine on the wall under where the awning rolls up.
so when awning is rolled up they are protected/hidden

Can you connect 2 strands together? Have camper at a seasonal site but would be great along the bottom of the camper

Yes it came with the 110v adapter and I use an extension cord. Yes you can string multiple strips together.

Many lengths are available on eBay and they can be cut shorter.
They are 12 volt DC and come with a wall wart (transformer).

While it is certainly easier to run an extension cord and use the wall wart; my plan is to investigate using the same hole the awning motor wires use to route switched DC to the awning arm for use by the LEDs.

If that won't work; my backup is a small hole into a storage cabinet above the fridge (the awning arm is right next to it).

Love these lights; what a great idea. How long did it take to get them? We are moving towards the end of this month (Richmond to Chesapeake) and want to be sure not to miss them.
