I got a 2007 FR with 11,500 miles. We recently changed the stove and now we smell a gas leak. We tested the new range and the connectors but nothing was coming from the connection, seems like it’s coming from the main line according to the leak scanner I bought from Amazon. I’m confused as why there would be a leak as there wasn’t any leak before.

Nothing is better than soap test. To make the solution for the soap test for gas leak, simply mix dish detergent with water. The soap can be put in a spray bottle or placed in a bowl for sponging on. Dish washing soap is formulated to make lots of bubbles so it works better for the soap test for gas leak.

Propane is heavier than air so it always goes down to the floor. Test every connection with the soapy water and watch for bubbles. You can also check the line itself for pin holes.

Thanks for this, can anyone direct me to what material and where I could buy a replacement part? I searched online with no luck. Thanks much

You not only want soap in the water. You need to add glycerin that is what makes the bubbles stick together. Then you can find the smallest leaks.

Connectors are the weak point in plumbing as well as electronics. Start your search at the connectors -- including those inside the new stove. Connectors are replaceable.

I doubt you'll find a part number for a length of brass gas pipe but it's probably fine unless it was flexed to a kink.

eBay

The LP gas line, 2007 Lexington Forest River 283GTS
I bought mine at eBay. Mine is for a trailer, not a motorhome, but you can probably find yours at eBay, too.

You will need to know the different types/sizes of pipe fittings to order it.

The best leak detector I've found is a cup of water and mix in a spoonful of dish detergent and a small paintbrush. Appy to every fitting, valve, and connection. If you have bubbles, you have a leak. That's the way the gas company does it.

Found it, it’s the rubber hose under the slide out under the range. Cost me $148 @ my local lpgas company. Thanks for all the advice. Stay safe everyone

Dawn dish soap has glycerine already in it. Being an ex auto tech we used it a lot for finding leaks and as a safe de-greaser.

Every mother and grandmother has a jar of bubble blowing solution under the sink or in a cupboard Has all the exotic ingredients. Just pump it on where you suspect leaks.

When I worked for the utility company we had leak detection concentrate and the bubble production was much better than Dawn. We were check leaks for 1/4 PSI gas leaks. To get the soap to work the best more glycerine is needed than they put in Dawn.

Gas Leask & Bubbles

I totally agree with everyone's comments about using bubbles to trace a gas leak. Some years ago, I had a very slow leak from a gas fitting in my basement ceiling. I "borrowed" some of the bubble blowing solution from my grandkids to find it.

As it is expressly formulated to make bubbles, it worked terrific, better than the soap solution I first made.
