Hi All! Looking forward to continuing to learn from all of you. My wife and I just bought a new Alpha Wolf 26DBH-L and are looking forward to some adventures this year. We upgraded from a 2016 Springdale 1800BH that we loved but was getting too small for our growing 2 kids (9 & 12).
I've been camping for about 45 years and have loved every minute, even the rainy ones. I've spent the last 25 years (until March 2020) living in Colorado but moved to Richmond, VA this year to get married and will stay here until our kids go to college and then we'll be back out in CO.
This year, we have a trip planned to Yellowstone and Jackson Hole, along with several smaller trips already booked. We camp year-round, which is part of the reason we bought the Alpha Wolf - it's a little better insulated in the floor and walls for mild winter camping.
Initially, we'll be pulling it with our 2012 GMC Yukon XL Denali but know we're going to be right at (or just over) the payload limit. It has a 6.2L and stage 2 towing cam in it so there's plenty of motor, but we only have 1450 lbs. of payload room and will have 650 lbs worth of people and stuff in the truck (I'm a pilot so I'm used to managing weight and balance). We have a Camco Recurve R3 WDH and the first thing we're gonna do is take the whole thing, kids and all, to the scale and see where we're at. TW is advertised at 600 lbs, but I know that's a fantasy.
Anyway, I feel honored to be among you and look forward to many stories and learnings on the road ahead.
